Frustrated about Google ranking

So not too long ago I wrote up a blog post about how excited I was that within only two days of creating my first site, that it had gotten ranked on page 1 of Google. I kept moving through the training and sticking to the advice that was given. I kept writting up content on a daily basis to keep my site flowing with what I felt was good material.

However, yesterday when I checked google during the day I got bumped down to page 2, then later that evening I was on page 4! This was very disheartening and my mind immediately took off wondering about what could possibly be going wrong.

My first hypothesis was that perhaps the articles I am writting are too diverse in type of content. However, that was somewhat the goal of my site. I chose a rather "broad" scope for the website in general so that I could be able to write many different posts targeting low competition keywords. This seemed like a great strategy since I wouldn't have to buy a new domain and start new websites from scratch for every new niche idea that I had. Though now I'm wondering is that the better way?

My next hypothesis was that perhaps I am including too many affiliate links. However, only 2 articles out of about the 10 I have on there right now have affiliate links in them. Is it becauce I include the same link too many times in multiple areas within those posts that have affiliate links? I wouldn't think so since I did not exceed the recommendation given in the video.

Now I'm wondering if it has to do with Google+. I know that it was said that we should only include one link to our website from Google+ per day to avoid looking like a scammer. I don't really use Google+ so I don't really post much more on there than the daily single post writing about an article I published followed by a link to it. Maybe I should start including random non-linked posts to Google+ as well?

All I know is that it is very frustrating. Getting ranked down in the search engine after experiencing the high of being on page one is like being stripped of a trophy. I really don't know where I am going wrong in gettin ranked down, but I am determined to get back onto page one!

I would keep on writing the content but make my niche a little less broad and that may help because Google could be getting confused with your niche being so broad. Try that and see what happens and I hope that will work for you.

I know how disheartening it is to see your ranking coming down drastically but as you know ranking is dynamic and can sometimes very volatile when you are in a highly competitive niche. Keep writing good content and you should be at the right position again.

Awesome sharing....

Joe

Thanks Joe, I am adamant about restoring my rank!

Thank you Phillip, this was a great video and gave me a lot of encouragement. I suppose I should not be so impatient when I see rankings fluctuate, especially considering that my website is barely even 2 weeks old.

I look forward to that threshold point you covered in your video where the snowball effect of traffic kicks in. Thanks for the help!

No worries. It is frustrating but hang in there. Think of blogging as training for a marathon or trying to get ripped.... there are always slow periods and little hurdles.

Just keep working away and slowly but surely it gets easier and easier.
