Never give up work - it gives you meaning and purpose
“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.” - Stephen Hawking
This is a quick post as I seem to have a lot to do at the moment (No kidding it’s December and things seem to speed up at this time of year) and I may be rambling on a bit and not enough editing!!
I know Kyle and Carson warn us not to multi-task but I am an artist and a parent and both of those parts of my life have taken over a bit recently. I have been putting artistic things on hold to give time to setting up my WA websites and now it is time to try to do both art and blog.
Both of which can result in a rush of excitement followed by a slump! Two days ago I was so full of inspiration for everything: yesterday I was down and today I feel I am somewhere in the middle (level-headed - which is where I like to be). As Frank Sinatra sings in his song “That’s life”.
Anyway, to refer to the Stephen Hawking quote “Never give up work.. as it gives you meaning and purpose. …” I find WA is my work, as it has given me the opportunity to keep on going. I feel every time I write a blog post I just keep on learning and hopefully I will earn some money from it -soon.
At the same time, work can mean volunteering, as that gives us meaning and purpose and helps other people too.
I am still only on Level 3 of our training but each bit is full of learning and excitement. So, like many other people I have taken the opportunity to save and buy a year’s subscription to WA and it feels like the right thing to do.
I am treating WA like work, something to do every day, depending on outside time commitments and there is no age restrictions we can do it as long as we like.
However, on my day of self-doubt I started to question things and when I started doubting myself I looked at what I had achieved in the last couple of months - two websites and a lot of learning. So that is something to smile at.
Additionally, keep smiling and remember to look ahead and up at the stars to see the wonder of life. Plus, wherever you have love treasure it. There are many forms of love and each one is special in its own way.
In conclusion, I am grateful for our WA family so we can keep on learning and having goals and working as long as we like. It gives me such a buzz and expands my horizon to higher levels.
Thanks,
Alexandra

Hey there, A. Beautiful thoughts...and yes, 'life tends to get in the way', doesn't it...LOL. One thing I have learnt along the way - 'This too will pass!' and it's just a matter of time and yes, age-old cliche - 'Everything in its own time'.
It will be ok.
Happy Holidays.

Yes, thank you M, time will pass and all too quickly, so thank you again for reminding me to live in the present and reminding me that things happen when they are meant to,
Namaste,
Alexandra
A lot of “tasks” we do are work. Does not mean if it is not a “job” it is not work. Working on your business is work. Taking care of your children is work. Walking dishes or keeping the house clean is work.
Yes, all of the above and more gives us purpose and meaning.
Cheers,
Stanley

Hi Alexandra,
I can especially relate to the never give working. I've known a few guys who retired and just sat around. The next thing I knew they passed away. That's not for me.
There are different types of working. These are kind of divided between physical & intellectual. I'm 84 so the physical part is in my past but WA is in the intellectual part so it is perfect for me to work at for the rest of my life.
I always talk to many military retirees that I know in my area! Several former military members around my age suddenly stop everything--and shortly thereafter die! I find it interesting that you mention the same thing now, Don! It's like the heart simply gives up the moment there is a rapid decrease in activity and routine!
Jeff
Hey Jeff,
What's amazing the more you try to tell them the less of it gets through. It's too bad.
Don
You are an inspiration Don and keep writing. Well done for taking on WA aged 84, it is a real learning curve and a great way to keep in touch with the progress of the world. :)
Hi AConnelley,
Thanks for the kind words. I wish you much success as we move thru WA.
Don
I know, Don--sadly I've realized it too!
