What Motivates You?
The question "What Motivates You?" I think is one question asked very frequently. And today, I don't think people give it much thought. Or as much thought as that question truly deserves. Usually the answer is what first comes to your mind. You can wake up each day with a different motivator. Maybe you have a vacation coming up and you are motivated to get through the week to be rewarded with that break. Maybe you are motivated by status - working hard means earning a higher status. Maybe you are motivated with pay or bonuses.
But to me, those can change on a daily basis. I can be motivated by my pay one day and by a vacation the next. So, when asked the question "what motivates you?" my quick response would be my family. Again, because that is what first comes to mind. But why? When I sit and think about what truly motivates me in life - and WHY - that motivation becomes much more real & meaningful.
My motivation comes from my family, yes, but because I want to live a life full of meaning & purpose with my family. I'm not just motivated because I have family & they make me happy. I'm motivated to make this the best life possible since I only live it once - and the best part of that is living that life with my family. Why waste one day when you can never get that day back? And this motivator doesn't change with different aspects in my life. I am motivated by my family in my work, my health, how I spend money, how I spend my time...literally in EVERYTHING.
My family motivates me to do something that I love, is meaningful & will make an impact. My family motivates me to be healthy - to take care & fuel my body in the best way possible to be able to fully be present each day & live a long life. My family motivates me in my time management - to be disciplined in my work so that I can take the time to truly be present with my family. They motivate me in how I spend and save money. The list goes on and on...
So, what motivates you? What is that one thing, or experience, in life that keeps you pushing forward - to make this life the best that you can? Answering this question each morning when you wake up can set your day on a whole different path. Remember your purpose in life, remember what you are working for and working towards.
All the best,
Abby

I think my biggest motivator is trying new things that separate me from what "everyone else is doing". I jump at the opportunity to learn and try new things even if I know they may not work out. And the best part of it for me is I keep what I'm doing to myself, I move quietly.
My main goal is to live a comfortable and happy life. Being a single woman with no children, that means being financially secure and never having to struggle again (I have no idea how people with kids to support survive).. I have made many leaps of faith to make this a reality for me in not only my day job but side hustle jobs. It has consistently paid off and it makes me very hopeful for where my future will take me.
I am just a beginner here at WA, but I am continuing to be very hopeful.
Thanks for sharing.
Welcome to WA! I love your goal of being comfortable & happy. Financial struggles are one of the hardest in life! When you are driven & motivated to achieve your financial goals, you feel so much more confident to achieve other goals in life! Keep at it!

My motivations are to gain personal freedom and to support my family, particularly my daughter who is a student midwife.
That's awesome! Kids are such a great motivation :)
