Who Do You Follow At Wealthy Affiliate ?
How Do You Decide Who To Follow At Wealthy Affiliate?
My thoughts today have been about who we as members choose to follow at WA and why we make those choices.
- Is it completely random?
- Do we follow someone because they followed us and it seems the decent thing to do?
- Is it because we think it makes us better business people and that we will make more money if we have more followers?
- Is it just to show off to other members?
What Is The Purpose Of Our Journey Here At Wealthy Affiliate?
For most of us we searched and found WA because we were looking for a new way to earn a living. Our main purpose is to be able to make money from home, either to supplement our current income or to completely replace it, which is my goal at Wealthy Affiliate.
Along our journey there are many benefits to being at WA. Lifelong friendships are made here, mentors are found here, the training is fantastic and we can build our network by "Following" other members.
How Do I Decide Who To Follow At Wealthy Affiliate?
I have a certain criteria that I abide by when deciding who to follow at WA, so in no particular order here is how I make the decision.
- I choose a certain number of new members here at WA. I do this because I know how difficult or overwhelming it can be for someone starting out.I want to help and encourage new members to start the journey here.
- I will follow people who have taken the time to follow me, hopefully because they have read my profile or posts, maybe met me in chat and feel I may be of some help to them, not just randomly clicked my name.
- I will follow people who have Inspired, Encouraged, Motivated and Helped me along the way.
- I will follow people who are Ambassadors or in the top 200 here at WA because here I feel I will learn from those who are ahead of me on this journey to Success.
We will all have different reasons for following other members here at Wealthy Affiliate but our core reasons should be because we want to help and encourage other members and because we have the desire to learn from others and therefore progress on our online journey to financial freedom, whatever that may mean to us as individuals.
So I encourage you to think about who and why you click that "Follow" button.
Andy.

I try to follow active people!
I choose between 5 and 10 new premium members per day based on their profile and send them a message. I go on the theory that if they've just opened their wallet then they will at least be active and around for a couple of months etc.
I also choose about 5 people that have recently asked a question. I don't normally follow non-premium members though.
And If I see someone in a blog i'm reading (like LindaF below) then I will follow them and send them a little hello message.
I'm about to hit 1000 people following me. and I know I certainly am not yet following all ambassadors or top 200's. It just seems to be a bit of luck!
I try to follow those that are like-minded. For example, I work in health. I find them by reading there bio. there interests also, for example, those that write books. because I can learn from them how they are writing. Newbies with interesting bios because they are just starting up I have been there also. Newbies that answer a post. Sometimes I find people that make very interesting comments I will go and have a look at there bio.
Thanks, Andy
I follow pretty much everyone that follows me and even initiate following some of the new Premium members. I do NOT follow someone that looks like they might be here just to take advantage or don't put up a bio.
~Debbi
There are A LOT of those Debbi! Most are only here to scam some free services without committing themselves to ;earning the business, IMHO!

Hi Andy,
These certainly are q's that pass through one's mind in our decisionmaking, or simple pondering.
Like others, If the person is similar, or exemplary, I want to track them. Birds of a feather and other cliches.
Thanks for vocalizing the topic and inspiring some interesting and thoughtful responses! (except this one!) lol
