brainstorming a blog, page or post

Create a "test site"... Use this site for introducing yourself to wordpress and all of its many wonderful perks. (Remember, you may delete the site later or give it a name for a FUTURE site idea. Don't think about it too much, just let it happen... There are NO restrictions, NO boundaries and NO pressure. You make the rules here!

Install plugins. make pages, edit pages, write posts, brainstorm new ideas, try new themes, experiment with the top 2 toolbars and other custom editing features, etc... Ask yourself as you make changes... "Does THIS look better or does THAT look better? How can you emphasize certain points to make your content MORE visually striking and engaging to YOUR viewers. Preview your post or page and see how it looks LIVE!

Try using some bullet points or a numbered list to illustrate your idea... Use italics and bold lettering to make your words LOOK like they SOUND...

Proof Reading! Does your content...

  • Make literary sense?
  • Is it "spread out" (break things up a little)
  • Have someone read it for you (preferably someone who is positive and encouraging)

Also, don't be afraid to save often... Especially after making a major change. I do this for MINOR changes as well. Creating a back up every few minutes is also useful for editing because you can compare 2 different versions and see changes that are highlighted. I'm bad about editing on 2 different devices (tab & lappy) so before i can see the new changes when I switch, I need to save and then refresh the page.... Ok, that's all I got for now. I'm tuckered out.

Good blog, keep up the good work.

Thanks Sharon, it's a little thing compared to others here but I appreciate the encouragement :)

Great job 1tech dean thanks good advice

Great advice!

Very helpfull as I try to figure out if I should zig? Or I should zag?
Restrictions, boundaries, pressure...out the window. Save save save...can't say it enough.
Thank you for posting this common sense approach.

Good Job as nothing is more frustrating than to loose work half way through completion!

Thanks for the tips my friend... Very useful to us newbies.

Glad it helped you solid and thanks for the feedback :) There's a ton of great info within WA and the search bar is perfect for finding what you're looking for quick. Keywords are KEY!

I've been doing that with my site. I tried out different themes, different plug ins until I found something I was comfortable with. I never been afraid to explore but saving is important in case you need a back-up

That's great Milla ;) Keep it up! You will find what works best for you. I'm still exploring plug-ins as there are many useful ones out there.

Good tips! I learned the hard way it is always better to keep periodically saving even as working on a draft! Just in case there is a computer glitch!

Thanks, it shall be the 1st of many so stay tuned! I have MUCH more for you (as time permits of course :)

Great post! Well done
