Re: Official Posting Rules by Kyle
I decided to post a blog, rather than to leave a lengthy reply to the post by Kyle,
Official Posting Rules at Wealthy Affiliate
Hey Kyle,
I think we're pretty clear about the rules, for the most part.
The main issue is the method used to report these posts/comments/chats/. There does not seem to be any rhyme nor reason on the factors behind the expulsion.
WA has grown way past the automatic 3 strikes and you're out that occurs automatically when a member's writing privileges have been disabled.
A better system need to be in place.
Once our writing privileges are disabled, we have no recourse but to log out, and visit the main WA website. There, we use the contact us form to inquire about the loss of privileges.
That is unacceptable.
As paid members, we deserve the courtesy of being notified that our writing has been 'hit'.
There is no reason why we are not notified of the infraction.
We have no idea which of our writings were targeted. All we know is that our writing took a hit, and we have no idea why.
There are ways that we can be alerted that our writing has 'fouled out'.
WA could send us an email alert. That alert will notify us of the offending piece, and we can correct or delete our post.
WA could flag our profile with a red editors line to inform us of a problem with our writing.
When the red lettered 'writer's privilege has been disabled' alert appears, WA could ADD a direct email address that we can use with our account email (the one we used to sign up at WA).
That way, we can make contact immediately, instead of having to wait THREE WEEKS or longer, before some poor member figures out what happened and things become resolved.
I think it's time for WA to create a procedure that explains the criteria a reported writing follows before the decision to disable privileges is handed down.

I agree with you Rudy. I rarely write posts here and only comment on other's a few times a day, but would hate that to happen to me. It must be frustrating if you're a regular blogger on the WA platform and don't know what you've done wrong. Best wishes:)
Thanks, Kathy Anne, yes, even some ambassadors were either banned or had their writer's privileges disabled.
It is a shocking feeling to be shut out on the most cruel way, and it is time that this process of shaming writers is stopped.

I agree with you, Rudy. Even though I haven't experienced a writing ban (maybe due to the fact I've rarely written anything), I don't want to get one. If I ever do, I would certainly want to know why or have had a warning...something. And making it easy to inquire more about it through an email link would definitely be helpful too.
Even though Kyle says they have taken care of the problem, for now, you never know when it might happen again. Now is the time to make the necessary changes to help those who want to blog and not constantly wonder if they will be spammed.

Thinking this over, Rudy, considering rank as a sign of activity plus those who might only read, but never like, comment or write, there just can't be that many people who are reporting spam on a daily basis.
So it would seem that it could be quite feasible to have human eyes take a quick look at something reported to make a final determination and that could be 1 or 2 people hired for that work.
Problem solved. WA has to be losing more money with members leaving forever than if they just paid someone to monitor this.
My thoughts.

Rank has nothing to do with it, IMHO, Mel.
You don't have to like something you have read, many do as a sign of acknowledgment. I changed my email alerts so I no longer receive the 'like' emails.
I'm sure that when WA began, they managed the spam wwritibg themselves, and the later set up an automatic sorting system based on an unknown criteria that would by default, disable the writing or ban the member from the site.
I had one of each. Almost a year apart. The first time I could not log in and had no other option but to use the main WA website contact form to find out what happened and got it resolved.
And what I did was nothing more than announce that I had placed my newly finished website into my profile in the follow column.
There was no link, just a mention. Not even the website name, and I got kicked off.
So, there has to be some changes made or other people will either stop writing out of fear, and there goes the 'safe zone', Kyle, or they will continue to get their writing privileges disabled.

Hey Rudy. What you say aligns with the way most organizations and businesses are heading right now which is "complete transparency"
The solutions you propose would inform us WHY what we said was wrong so we can fix it and give us a cause point on HOW to fix it.

Hey Rudy, in response to Kyle's post, I made some of the same suggestions particularly a type of 'yellow card' system which equates to your red line with notification. To his credit, Kyle did respond to my post and has indicated that modifications will be made. I think the issues that have been raised need to be resolved with dispatch and will do much for improving of the community spirit.
Stay up bro
Hugh
That's wonderful to hear that Kyle responded, and I'm glad to know that change is coming.

This made me delete my long reply. Let's wait to see what happens, change must come 😲
Hey Chris. Dang I like your long replies lol. Anyways I was wondering how well an approach of allowing the community to come up with suggestions on some of these key issues would work? Particularly since there is so much organizational talent in this WA bus that I am sure would have very precise recommendations. Just a thought.
Although a great idea, trying to get a consensus from the community is a big undertaking.
I wonder if creating a panel of 7 members that would oversee the flagging process, rather than using an automated system.
Rudy
Yes indeed I think we have to work towards what the best fit is. Thus the agreement that we could incorporate a collaborative process arising from a segment of the community is certainly the first step.
