Do hyphenated domain names change your search results? I've been testing key words and am finding some great combinations within my niche. The .com name is taken but the hyphen
how would you communicate this over the phone?
i have one called stan-dash-tech-dot -com, so does the other party spell out the dash-or use a hyphen or should you say minus.
i haven't found any problems with ranking a subdomain off of it. the main site doesn't have much on it at the moment.
do people really take that much notice of the domain name rather than what they have come to read? especially withthe mobiles- is it even displayed on a mobile?
don't think that using a keyword for a domain name isvery important - what is more important nowadays is the quality of the content, so don't stress too much if you cannot get what you really want - you could go and stick your name at the front or back of the name and miss out the hyphen.
keep on creating content - that is the important thing Anita.

Thanks for the input! I have a number of content ideas for short articles on my niche. Do you think I should focus more on the words that give a lower QSR even though the searches for those words are pulling in the 80s for revelance? I believe I can create content that will boost my ranking, just not sure if I should focus more on words that are alreadying pull a lot of traffic.
when you are after organic traffic- think through what you want to achieve. top places in google - pos 1-3 get most of the traffic the rest, well...
so if you think you can beat your competitors on page 1 at the top with short content then go for it- i never have.
i tend to not worry too much sbout qsr now and conentrate on the fact that people are searching and who is on page one.
you can do this in jaaxy with the search analysis tab.
with a new site it is worth going for the low qsr and low traffic to reduce your competition, but again just check who is on page one.
