Is there anything more wonderful than listening to the first spring rain hit the ground? After a long cold Canadian winter, there isn't a better sound. Tonight I heard the first spring rain of 2021.

We Canadians have become accustomed to our long cold winters. Not all of us, but a lot of us, even enjoy playing outside in the wonderful white snow, that covers our land for 6 months out of our year.

All of the awesome winter sports we love, fill our spare time. Sports like hockey, curling, skiing, cross country and downhill. Tobogganing, snowball fights, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and our wonderful winter festivals are all great time fillers, for the long cold winters months.

But even we Canadian get to a point at the end of our winters, were we long to hear those first few drops of that unfrozen water hit the ground, that signaling in the beginning of spring. The soft sound of one drop after the other, is music to our frozen ears...lol

Spring rains ushers in warmer weather, new baby's, beautiful wildflowers and a wonderful change of landscape color. Like a beautiful white blank canvas, that an artist fills with imaginative colors. That wonderful clean looking white ground covering, finally melts away and is replaced with lovely springs long awaited colors.

I can't wait for all of the different shades of green to appear. The grass, leaves and even the green weeds are a welcome site. The greener it gets, the warmer it gets.

Now at the end of March, we Canadians are ready for all of the spring rains, and everthing that comes with them. The sound of it, the smell of it and the sight of it, fills all of us Canadians, with hand and heart warming joy. Welcome Spring 2021, we are ready for you.

All the best,

Sheena

Oh, Sheena, you make me want to visit Canada. I loved reading your post.

Thank you so much Yvonne, I am glad you liked it. I hope you do get the chance one day to come and see our beautiful Canada.

Sheena

On my to-do list.

Thats great!

Beautiful post, Sheena. I feel for you Canadians with your long winters but what a beautiful country you have! Like you said it is coming.

I LOVE snow and I am originally from NY. The winter games we played as kids were magical. I live in the southern US now. Spring has exploded here! The dogwood trees and azaleas are about to bloom. Cherry and tulip trees are out. The beloved red bud trees are too. The daffodils and forsythia are hanging on. Everywhere the songbirds are singing and the bees are buzzing. We have a couple of house sparrows that have built their nest near our front door. I could go on and on and I feel sure you have the picture. I wanted to give you a little bit of the sweet spring from the South!

Happy spring,
Kristina

Thank you Kristina.

I remember the winters as a kid too. You couldn't wait to get outside into that snow to start having fun with the neighborhood kids. And it didn't matter how cold it was either, you still went out everyday.

But now a days, I would prefer being where you are for the winter.
My body doesn't like the cold anymore...lol

Thanks again Kristina,
Sheena
