Another Year and no Resolutions.
Here we are 5 days into 2024, and I have barely written a word except for a basically effortless 3-400 word missive on medium.
With most of my plans over the New Year falling foul of the weather or conflicting ideas, there was not much left to do but take it all in my stride, and have something else to eat or drink.
Still, I did manage to do something I hadn't done it quite awhile, and that is to catch up on some sport articles.
Sports articles have been for a long time my preferred reading material, and did have a big influence on the way I wrote although that has changed over the past few years.
A well written sports article with its focus on the human element will give a good reference to the player's/competitor's or a teams mindset, with all the elements of humanity:- humour, humility, hubris, sadness, and grittiness.
The problem now though is, the best sports journalists are a dying breed, and finding one who can write in a way that dispenses more than the basic facts is now something of a rarity.
Still, I did manage to find a couple of good cricket articles. Rugby articles used to be my favourites, but it will be a couple of months before Rugby competitions gets under way in earnest.
So, I will keep an eye out for them this year just to see if I can feel the "vibe" of the game in the writing.
Now that I have had a few days away from blogging, it is time to get over this period of bloated bellies, overworked bladders and lethargy, and join the hunt again.

I do love a well written sports article as well Mike, and I have to agree with you that the authors of these are unfortunately a dying breed!
There's nothing wrong with a few days away from blogging when the festive season is here my friend and I wish you all the very best as you re-join the hunt in 2024!!

Totally agree Mike. And do take a break if you need it. Sometimes you come back more refreshed.
