Index Posts- Getting your URLs to the Priority Queue

You have an amazing site, best of all its indexed on Google. You have been working hard and you have content posted. But are your posts indexed? Does google know you have posted on your site?

Indexing

Google regularly checks your site for updates and indexes your posts. However, it may take a while between each crawl. For instance, I discovered I had posts from two weeks ago that had not been indexed. That means they did not exist in the search engine. Damn.

So how do you know your post is indexed?

Click on websites and select site content. You will land on the option to create a new post and a grid of all the posts you have created through site content. There are four icons at teh bottom of each post as shown. The G is for indexing. It will be colored if the post is indexed. A colorless G means the post is not indexed.

So How Do You Index It?

Visit your site and copy the link to the post you need indexed.

Next go to search console. You may need to set up your search console account and link it to your website if you haven't already done so.

Once you are all set up, click on URL inspection and paste in the link to your post.

A search will reveal that the post is not indexed. There is an option right there where you can click to request indexing.

Your post will be put on the priority queue and indexed faster

With the above method, you can get your time-sensitive post out to the world at the right time.

Ways to Speed Up Indexing

The above method allows you to manually get indexing done. If you need your posts to automatically index faster, you can try the following methods:

1. Sitemaps- find the sitemaps in your All In One SEO plugin dashboard and submit them to search console

2. Share your posts to social media as soon as you post because Google crawls social media faster than it does sites

Final Thoughts

Phewks, spoken too much again, didn't I? Let me stop here. Have a great day.

Never too much explaining Zay. I read a few of your posts, and you are a pretty articulate writer, and doing very well for one of the new kids in town.
A lot of my friends are over here, like, Twack, Jeff Brown, FKelso, AparnaBansal , I'm sure there's more.
So I decided to follow you, maybe you would like to follow me. I don't just follow anyone, but we have a little thing in common.
what is that you may say?
well my name is Suzay, and I often sign off like this:
Just Zaying,
Suzay
Then today I found you, read your profile, read 4 posts, and decided to follow you. You are going for it, and I like that quality, so I 'm following you. Nice to meet you!
Do you know about Live Events calendar

Wow, this is so thoughtful of you. I can't thank you enough. It's an honor meeting you and best of all being followed by you.

I found perfection in WA and that's why I spend more and more time here. And the community that allows access to affiliate marketing veterans like you is mind-blowing.

Thank you for the directions, I'm checking out the past live lessons right away. One step at a time, I want to do more in my first 3 months than most people.

Yeah Zay, I knew you are a powerhouse! And that is the nicest complement I have ever gotten about the lessons, and basically Live Events! Thank you back from the bottom of my heart to the very top. You are gracious as well. Glad to know you, happy to know you better.

Suzay

I tried that. But I keep getting a message that says what I pasted is not in my URL property. I copied the link to a post that has not yet been indexed, pasted it it in the box at the top of the page in google search console, then I hit enter.

The same message keeps popping up, address not in your URL property. But I am indexed and have no problem asking to be indexed for the link/address to my website.

What's happening? Why the message?

This will be more steps, but will allow you to see what google has indexed or not and why.

From your search console dashboard on the lefthand side, click "Coverage", this will bring up a screen with basically 4 boxes. "Error", "Valid with warning", "Valid", and "Excluded".

If you click on excluded, it will list the reasons posts were excluded, and the number of post for each reason. The two I would check are "crawled currentlynot yet indexed" and "Discovered - not yet indexed".

If you click on those categories, it will list the URLs of each post/page within that category. You can then click on the URL and in the upper right you will see the options to "inspect the URL" which will tell you if google can find it and crawl it, and "Request indexing" once you click on the URL, google will load it for you, no need to paste.

I know it's a long answer and many steps, but you can get a good look at what google is doing on your website.

Hope that helps.

Rex

Thanks Rex. This is all I get.

did you click on the gray box that says excluded? It should list why that one is excluded

Here's the question. in the box, add a new site map, after that forward slash, can I add the ending of a post that has not been indexed and then hit submit?

Will that cause the post to be crawled? Should I do that with every post not indexed?

Example, after the forward slash can i put cat-feeder and hit submit?

Here 's the box.

Yeah. It told me nothing. I'm trying to figure out why my visitor count will not move out of the low 30's when it used to be above 200.

How many posts do you have, and how long has your site been up and running.

I wouldn't mess with the sitemap, your all-in-seo has that covered.

87 posts. End of August 2019. I agree on the site map. I'm leaving it alone. Site trust is 100%

I'm curious as to why your search console only shows that one excluded post and not the other 86 as being valid. it's showing 0 valid

I have no idea. I'm tired of even trying to worry about it. I'm more concerned with why I went from 200 visitors to 32

I can understand that, Your site map page in search console says it found 312 URLs on your site map, so they are there somewhere.

On you analytics you might click on behavior and do some exploring there to see what people are doing when they come to your site and what pages they are viewing.

Be careful, analytics can be a real rabbit hole with all the numbers and sub categories.

Thanks for the tip, Rex10.

Your welcome, wish I could be of more help.

Thank you for all the help.

How does a person like me upload the file to my webpage ? I'm not too computer savvy ! Where do i manage that ? It's way too complicated. U will need to explain further ZayK. So sorry but its not at all clear

I'm guessing you want to verify your ownership of the domain. When you copy the given code, use the Insert Headers and Footers Plugin which lets you just paste the line you copied into a space shown by the plugin.

But don't stress over it, carry on with your training and you will cover this part in level 5 lesson 3.

I wish you all the best.

I sent a link to you from Kyle. A video on how to set up google search console and site map.

Next go to search console. You may need to set up your search console account and link it to your website if you haven't already done so.

Which search console ZayK??

Google search console,
Sorry I had not mentioned.

VERY important to watch and do each step in order to set up your google search console. It shows you how to do site map as well. Site map is critical.

It tells google, hey, crawl/index my website

Very helpful. Thanks. I will be working on this later today as a matter of fact.

That's great. Glad it was of help.
