Whether you work on your Wealthy Affiliate projects in your home office, den, kitchen table or even in your bedroom, there are times we need to clean the air where we work by bringing the outdoors indoors.

But did you know that the air inside your home office can become quite stagnant, especially during winter months when it is quite difficult to open the windows and let the fresh breeze cleanse your house?

I've just recently brightened up our office at work with some indoor plants called Designer Philodendron. The best thing about it is it tolerates poor lighting conditions—ideal for the home office.

So how do these plants work in our home office?

Well, besides adding a touch of greenery, they can help keep us healthy by using their natural air filters in their leaves to cleanse the air we breathe. Plants absorb carbon dioxide and any other gasses such as formaldehyde and benzene through the pours in their leaves and exude oxygen.

If you are feeling down and morbid trying to think of ideas for your blogs, plants have a way of lifting our energy levels.

Here are some suggested plants:

Aloe (Aloe Vera) absorbs formaldehyde, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide in our homes. It loves a sunny position near the window.

Snake Plant (Sansevieria trifasciata Laurentii) likes low light and humid conditions. Ideal places are bathrooms and bedrooms to absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen during the night, making it perfect for the bedroom office.

Bamboo Palm (Chamaedorea seifrizii) likes shady, humid areas. filters formaldehyde and xylene.

Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum) This plant apparently topped NASA as one of the best filtering formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene, three common air toxins. Loves a shady spot in the home and water once a week.

Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum) This plant is quite hardy and difficult to kill. It absorbs formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, and xylene.

Do you have any plants that help lift your mood that you might like to share?

Great ideas, thanks!

Couldn't agree more about stuffy air. Though it makes my husband crazy, I insist on turning off the air conditioner and opening the windows each night, just to get some fresh air in the house. It changes how I sleep and how I work the next day.

Ah, you are the same as me. I too keep turning off the air conditioner. I totally agree with you I seem to sleep much better at night without one.

*** Fabulous! ... greenery is so soothing and healing! ...

Yes, you're so right about ambient air ... it needs to circulate like the great outdoors with fresh breezes whizzing by for good health ...

So, alas, I have had the good fortune where my big brother thoughtfully got me an air purifier and does it work wonderfully!

Appreciate YOU! ... keep well, thanks & cheerio-o ... :))) ***

The fortunate thing is that my house backs a wooded area so I have green and seawater in the distance. The scent and cool air is my secret morning charge up. We have red bougainvillea, ixoras, ferns, a purple poui tree and many others I don't know the names of.

Sounds beautiful Hugh. You are living in paradise.

How sexy is that. You like the commute to work Hugh?

At the moment it is from my bedroom to the study so yeah!

Sounds like a lovely walk.

I do not have any plants in my office space. I probably should. The space is open and well lit, but no greenery.

Alex

I would add an indoor plant. It doesn’t have to be huge. Even a small one will give you something to focus on when you need to think about blogging.
