Today marks exactly a month since I joined Wealthy Affiliate.

What a journey! I wouldn't say it has been an easy one but definitely fruitful one. This is how my past 4 weeks have been.

Week 1: Signed up as a free member. Quickly convinced that this is what I want to give it a try, but was not sure if I should pursue the journey in my native language (Japanese) or in English. I knew it would be way easier for me to write contents in Japanese, but then I wouldn't make the best out of what WA has to offer. I upgraded to Premium on Day 5.

Week 2: I've decided on making my first website in English and promoting Wealthy Affiliate as I completely believe in this program. Ok then... I now need to write about online business that I know very little about... How can I write about something that I do not know well??? I felt like I hit a wall already, and Kyle was kind enough to support me. "You do research of what you are going to write about, just like any writers would do." Fair enough, I began a research of a topic at a time.

Week 3: Here comes a huge barrier: language.
I have had a good idea as to what I want to talk about in my website and know how I want to phrase it in my language, but not in English! Here comes my supportive husband in the play. Week 3 was all about me writing an article and my husband proofreading.

Week 4: I discovered an online program that proofread what you wrote! It is called "Grammarly." Although the service is quite limited for a free member, it is good enough for my content to at least make sense grammatically in English. Now I could release my husband, who is already working so many hours everyday, from proofreading my articles. :)
Thus far, I managed to post 8 pages and 3 posts for the past 4 weeks. I know it is not much but for me, it is a great accomplishment. :)

Thank you all for being so supportive and helped me through the first month of my journey. I truly feel blessed to be a part of this awesome community!

My journey goes on and I am not going to give up. :)

It's a great accomplishment to be moving forward and not needing as much help in certain areas issued before. All the content I have seen you produce has been well worded, so I don't think you have anything to really worry about. Just keep moving forward. You're doing great.

Your English is outstanding! Have you taught your husband Japanese? Language seems to be a huge part of your life, so I wonder if you can have a niche about Japanese/English relations. Maybe link to Pimsleur or Rosetta Stone or online classes, books, etc. Maybe you've already thought about that?

Wow! What you have accomplished is huge. Keep plugging along and good luck to you.

Jess, remember your G+ post of Cathy Bates, "No seriously, you should be writing" or something like that?
I remembered the post a few times when I felt stuck. Haha!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

LOL! I love that. Kathy Bates can definitely inspire anyone to get writing.

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Holy Cow!, I think you have done an amazing job so far. Your English in this post alone is very well written and presented. I really don't think that the language aspect should be a fear for you anymore. It was a hurdle ou came upon early and I applaud you for finding a way to get past it and continue with such passion.

You are well on your way to success. A big congradulations to you.

Aww, Missa3, thank you so much for your kind words!! I think the online proofreading tool is really helping me? lol

This experience reminds me of my time back in the graduate school many years ago. You know, how much I struggled writing papers in English! I survived then, so I shall survive this time as well :)

Thank you for stopping by and take the time to leave a comment. It meant a lot to me. Have a great weekend!

Yuko san, ogenki desu ka? Great progress. Keep on your good work. You've made a good website and wrote some posts. You are lucky that your husband can help you as a proefreader. My English is also not so good and I cannot ask my husband as my proofreader because he's not a native English speaker. By the way, I have been one month too, plus several days here. I wish you a great success ahead. Ganbate Yuko San. Cheers.

Ogenki des!

Arigatoo, Hayu! Watashi wa genki desu :)
Thank you for your encouragement and sweet words. I've lived in the U.S. for so many years but can never be like a native speaker. I should be grateful that my husband is a native speaker of English, huh. What language does your husband speak?

Hayu mo ganbatte ne! (Good luck to you too!)

Bernard wa genki desu ka?
Watashi wa genki desu. :)

Really impressed that you and some members here at WA know some Japanese! Have a great weekend, friend!

My husband speaks Dutch. He is a dutchman. I speak dutch too because I live in the Netherland now. Demo watashi wa Indoneshia jin desu. I speak also a little bit of other languages.

Watashi mo ganbatte! Have a great weekend.

Wow Hayu, you speak Indonesian, Dutch, English, definitely know some Japanese, and still other languages???
How talented are you!

Thank you!
Ed

Thank you for your support too, Ed :)

Keep it up Yuko. As long as you are doing something and taking actions, I believe you're halfway already :)

Thank you, Marissa! I will keep working. Best of luck to your success too :)

A like for you! You've been making a great progress thus far! I'm progressing quite slow with my post due to need of research on the software that I'm using. But of course I'll work harder and catch up too! See you again with your post and blog!

Thank you, sweet Bernard! My progress has been super slow but I still enjoy the every part of it. Good to know that I have a "tomodachi (friend)" like you along the way. Let's keep working and make it happen!
