A South Dakota Tornado
We had a South Dakota Tornado, recently. It was the scariest tornado I've ever experienced because my kidddies all lived even closer than I do to the area where it touched down. 'Course, any tornado is scary, but when it's as close as this one was an' people you care about are near the center of the action, a person begins to realize just how personal summa' these situations can be. So glad you are all safe...yeah Mother Nature is striking back at us like we were some kind of disease and it wants the cure. The climate sure is getting stranger by the day.
Glad everyone is safe. We had one nearly take our home 8 years ago. Did a lot of roof damage and took out 3 trees, which fortunately fell away from the house. A lot of others weren't as lucky. No power or gas for a couple weeks. Very scary.
Here in the south you usually can't see them coming (due to the heavy rain) until you start seeing debris in the air.

Whereabouts in the south are you located? I originally hailed from New Orleans, although I made my first big move at five weeks old.
My little brother's trailer house was picked up an' slammed down, in a Texas Tornado. We were all so grateful that no one was in it, at the time.
Yes... no matter where the bad weather hits, it carries a bit of terror with it. I've lived all over the United States an' experienced every kinda' frightening threat by Mother Earth that you can imagine. Fortunately, I have also been very, very blessed by bein' protected, through it all.

Alabama. Been to New Orleans several times, before and after Katrina. Such a huge difference. Places I had visited before were no longer there.

Thank you, Tony. Yes, we are all safe. There was lotsa' damage an' no small amount of fear an' darkness, but I've only heard of two people were hurt. The first person broke an arm an' lost two fingers, but when you see my pictures of the damage, you will be greatly s'prised that there were not many more injuries.
The second mention of someone bein' hurt was only a passing comment an' since that was the only time anyone has said anything about it, I tend to think that it may have been, rather than a second person being hurt... more likely, the same person, mentioned in a different way.
