How To Avoid Burnout - Tip 1
So it's still my first week here at WA, and I've got my website up and running and today I will be finishing up my very first 'Getting Started' course. I have been so excited about the prospects that I even dream that I am working on WA.
The sad part is that I feel so burned out. I know it's a phase but I notice that I'm not alone in, so I thought I could start a 'How To Avoid Burnout' series to help keep myself motivated as well as others.
So my first tip on avoid burnout is: Plan! Plan! Plan!
Planning makes all the difference. When I plan, I see the difference in the quality of my daily life. For example, when I spend two hours on the weekend to iron all my work clothes for the week, getting reading in the mornings in such a breeze compared whenever I don't iron them all at once. Here's another example. If I don't plan my lunch meals, I end up not taking lunch so I waste money on food that I could have prepared myself. Get the picture?
So I'm into Erin Condren planners, and I highly recommend that you invest in a planner of your own to help you manage your time better. I prefer the old pen and paper method, but there are also digital options that may work just as great. It's up to you. As soon as I iron out my website a little more today, I am going to start allocating time for WA.
I won't just say, "Oh! I will work from 10am - 12pm on WA on Monday".
I will set specific tasks that I want to achieve that day that is not necessarily bound by clock time. I prefer to go by time of day like Day, Morning, Night. This approach helps me to achieve goals in a realistic time that will help me to avoid being burned out after a couple of days of work. When I schedule tasks that way, I won't jump the gun and overdo it for that day then feel defeated whenever mind brain just won't go any further.
After all, WA isn't going anywhere now is it?! So I can take my time and go at a pace that works best for me and so can you. I'm sure that would feel so fulfilling and would allow me to get better sleep each night after accomplishing my goals set for that day.
If you have tips on planning or time management feel free to share them in the comments section below! :-)

Hi,
You are certainly on a good roll when planning your day/week. I once in my life went through a real burn out and was on sick leave too.
Learning how to structure my day (personal and business) has really helped me.
I also enjoy to work in the garden, have a walk and or do meditate.
All these keeps me in balance. At least more then it had in the past.
Keep doing what you are doing. You doing certainly great. :)
Sylvia
Very sound advice. I'm still new enough here that I don't have my website up and running yet, but I've experienced this problem writing for other websites in the past. I like the morning, day, night way of planning things out as well and may try to learn from it to see if it helps me any. Good stuff.
I'm going to assume that your name is Ray. Am I right? If so, well Ray I'm happy to know that you're feeling like this is some could try here on WA. Once step at a time is fine, no need to rush right? All the best!

Great post. Starting tomorrow , I am going to set up a schedule. I did this when I work "outside" the home and I was more productive.
Unfortunately, I got out of the practice.
Oh, and don't forget to take a break!
Thanks. Definitely breaks are essential. All the best.
