Pause for the Cause

Disclaimer: abbreviation heavy post. If I'm feeling accommodating and remember it three seconds after typing this I'll add a list of what stands for what at the bottom of the post.

So today I sit down ready to crank out content and GSD( if you don't know, don't ask). I figure that the first couple AB lessons are non-taxing to avoid scaring off new kids and to prevent anyone from burning out too early. I also remind myself that it seems slow and like old information because it's the basic website creation content that is in the first couple lessons of the OC courses. We get to lesson four today, and it's starting to pick up the pace but I had already jotted down well over three themes and ten topics for each while killing time on my breaks at the day job. So that left me to create three pages for future content as my task for the day. I got a little impatient at this point and went ahead and skipped to day five. Day five put me in my place by being devoted to catching up, taking a break, participating more around WA and advertising WA more.

The above probably sounds like I'm complaining, but I'm really not. The above was simply to give context to the extra lesson I learned today at no additional charge. Kyle paces his courses the way he does for a reason, and he and Carson know more about this stuff than we do or we probably wouldn't be here. I'm not saying the community isn't great, but just that there would not be a community if not for their expertise and support bringing us together. So today I learned to be patient. If you stop to think about it, in addiction to reducing the chance of burn out or information overload, a slow consistent pace probably looks better to search engines than a massive website that just sprouted out of nowhere. Good content takes time, after all, and a huge influx of content would probably look more like spam to the powers-that-be ranking system.

So today I'm going to get some discussions going on FB about WA and post around the site a bit. Y'know, social stuff. And I'll go do some cleaning around the house, laundry and whatnot. Today was going to be my rest day, but I think I'll add in a work out. And in the mean time my sites will be sitting here, looking all respectable and bidding their time instead of expanding out of control like cancer. Soon enough I'll probably be looking for reasons to procrastinate content production anyway, but it won't be today. Today I'll be patient, Today I'll be the tortoise. A tortoise with a clean house and clean clothes.

Abbreviation translation:

GSD - Getting, ahem, stuff done.

OC - Online Certification

AB - Affiliate Bootcamp

WA - I think this one's obvious. And no, it's not Washington.

FB - Facebook.

Love it! I agree about the patience part-I can easily get sucked into this Bermuda triangle of info I am so interested in learning all of it!

For me it's all difficult because I'm a creature of momentum. Once I get going, I don't want to stop.

True, they pace us for a reason. The hurrieder I go, the behinder I get!

It is amazing how the training here subtly teaches you patience. One of the things I loved about the early training.

You also need to remember that the lessons are designed in a way for people with zero experience to figure out what is going on. I got completely hung up originally when I got the lesson about choosing three themes. Some things come easier to some than others.

The pace also does prevent information overload and as you mentioned can help prevent one from getting burnt out very quickly. Though with this being said if you have the time now that you may not have later to get some of the lessons done I see no problem in doing so. I think the most important part at this point is to follow them in order and to resist the urge to jump around like a mad person until you have a solid foundation. =)
