High Jinks! Unsubscribe.....Who done it?

It is not a good way to start your business day to check emails and find somehow you have "unsubscribed" from Wealthy Affiliaate. Imagine my shock, and I had only had one cup of coffee!
Upon starting the second cup of coffee, I re-read the email, clicked the re-subscribe link and submitted my information once again. This was not my best time of day at 6:20 a.m. EST!

Do not understand how I got unsubscribed, as I certainly did not do it myself. Still pondering the possibilities...was I hacked? Possible, lots of people who have nothing better to do than screw up people's lives and businesses online.

Maybe it was a virus. No more than I know about the technical end of the computing, anything could have sneaked in and got me! This new Windows 8 is not compatible with my previous virus software, Avast!, so I am a bit more vulnerable without its excellent coverage.

Now I will get down to business, reply to comments and read posts and comment and get down to working on my sites again. Still trying to figure out adding SEO to my websites that are not here with WA. Is there a plug-in for websites that are not WordPress? If so, please let me know, I would love to add it to my 3 websites I own.

Hoping all of you at WA get to start your day with less excitement that I did thismorning! Enjoy your day, and watch out for the "Unsubsriber" that is a foot!

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Glad that it is sorted again!

Sorry about that and thanks for sharing.

%%$^ happens, glad you are back!

Thanks Shawn! I never left!

Your back, that is all that matters now! Welcome back!

Thanks...glad I checked my email! Glad I wasn't down with the flu either! Imagine my surprise days from now! I would have been angry....to say the least!

My guess here is that it wasn't a hacker or a virus unless you've seen some other effects as well. Hackers and virus coders are generally looking for some sort of perceived benefit to them- could be money, publicity or just bragging rights. Something tells me a 16 year old kid in a basement somewhere doesn't really care too much about your WA account...

However... an affiliate account that has money in it? Definitely. Check every account that you have money in, bank accounts included, that you have ever accessed from your computer...

I don't think it's a mis-click either. I had a look around the site... I can't find where you click to unsubscribe. I think it's going to be a multi-click process... generally membership sites want to avoid the mis-click and the possibility of losing a member, paying or otherwise... they also want a chance to re-sell the cancelling member, so often you'll find a promotional offer or a survey along with multiple confirmation buttons...

I think this may have been a mis-click or glitch on the back-end, however. Someone on the WA side may have slipped and initiated your cancellation, or there may be a bug in the WA system... possibly some sort of automatic filter that decided your account needed to be deactivated for some standard reason. If Kyle or Carson don't respond to this post I would make sure to bring it up with one of them directly in case there is some back-end glitch.

Sorry for the lengthy reply! =) Just thought I may be of some assistance.

I truly appreciate it! I know I didn't click to unsubscribe! I don't understand it but it certainly happened and I got 2 emails within 15 minutes of each other at 6:00 a.m. and the second at 6:15 a.m.

I certainly hope this isn't repeated as it really aggravated me....that is putting it mildly! I have no technical computer knowledge and so once it gets over my head, it is just gonna be a glitch or whatever. Wish I had your knowledge, I wouldn't have known how to go around the site to see if someone clicked! Thanks for checking, I really appreciate it! And you were really helpful! Thanks!

Sometimes somewhere wrong click may cause such mishaps.......

Well, if I find out who did the wrong clicking, I will kick their butts! Made the start of my day fizzle! I guess you could say it caused a snowball effect. Been a very crazy and hectic morning! Thanks for commenting.

Have had such things happen to my computer as well, they do strange things. I also wondered if I was being hacked. Everything says no hacking going on....stuff just happens....not sure why...???????

That is what happened, no doubt! LOL Not the way to start my day, though. Now I have mis-placed my Social Media training lesson 1! I may go take a nap or something! One minute I was doing a page and sharing it over the various social sites and now I can't find the lesson! LOL LOL What a day....I hate Mondays! Should be a law against Monday and Friday. Work week should be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Friday would become a second Saturday and Monday would become another Sunday. Have 4 day weekends and only three days work. Reason for that is everything goes nutz in business on Mondays and Fridays. LOL I think that is how I should do my business. No, but it is a wonderful dream!

4 day weekend can't agree more.....that will happen for sure...:)

Don't worry... Shit happens! :)

Not so much worried as curious. What a totally weird thing to occur. I had just changed my passwords and even my payment info within the past few days so I was more than a bit surprised to find this email from Kyle and Carson.

I don't like things that pop up out of the blue and throw monkey wrenches in my business. I like things to go smoothly and with me in control at all times.

Probably was so sor t of glitch, but I tend to be suspicious of this kind of thing. Can't be too careful online!
