Forward, HO! Is This The Right Direction?
I was going to try to figure Affiliate Marketing out for myself before Ian brought me to Wealthy Affiliate. As a result, I had purchased a premium site with web-builder and SEO and all kinds of goodies from Go Daddy.com. I didn't know what else to do and they seemed to be a good hosting service and I have purchased domain names from them also. Everything is pretty easy to work with as far as the website and the themes and such, as compared to Wordpress.
This site has over 999 pages so it is a big site. I really would like to use it as it is so much easier to work with than the Wordpress, but how do I transfer everything from my siterubix website and what happens then?
All of this is very new to me and I am totally devoted to doing this and helping people, so I need to find some answers to my questions. When I decided to do http://takingcareofmomma.siterubix.com I even bought that domain name. So, what do you, my fellow WA members and Kyle, think I should do? I am really open to suggestions and opinions and whatever advice you can give me.
I have put a few things on my site here and I am having problems with the theme and the menus and stuff, so the site isn't full by any means. I am dealing with elderly parents care, including Alzheimer's, ALS, and other serious issues, healthy foods and meals for the elderly, exercises for elderly people and senior citizens. Basically anything that an older retired person or elderly parent could need.
I just need help to pull this whole thing together in a nice, neat, easy-to-use site. Your help and feedback is welcomed, good or back, so I can dso this right. I have a deep passion for this and I feel it is a trtibute to my mom and dad, so I want it to be really good.
Thanks!
Debbie

Hey there Debbie, I'm a total noob and don't even have a clue about most of the terminology used here in these comments. But I just wanted to thank you for this blog/post. I'm extremely interested in seeing if you do get ALL of the help that you need! I'm thinking about going Premium here and the Support aspect is what is really interesting me, probably the most. I'm still looking at other IM sites but spend most of my time here trying to go through the available training. So with that being said, I'm really watching this one and just wanted to thank you for getting it out here for all of us to experience.
You may want to check out my latest blog then. I have had PMs, emails, and all kinds of offers and help from everyone here. Read my blog and see what you think. I am so humbled and happy to be part of this I could shout it from the rooftops. I think you would be very happy and secure here and I know you will learn and get all the help you could ever need from these members. I just spent awhile with a member online in Antiqua and Barbuda. Wonderful guy and his wife is a dear. Gave me lots of help on several different things today alone. Best of luck to you Double Tap.....I hope you stay!
I think that you are impatient to get there, but one step at the time or one day each per action would get you farther without stumble. Good luck!..
I can understand your hurry to get websites up and running, but if you don't put anything of value on your websites you will not get ranked in google. If you want to make money with your websites you have to get a good rank in google or no one will find your pages. What you can learn here at WA is how to write quality content so you can rank in google. They can't tell you what to write, you have to figure that out on your own. This place is here to help you figure out what you want to say. Watch their blog on how to set up a word press site. Have you went through the certification steps on the left side of the page?
Yes I have and I am just all thumbs when it comes to working with the Word Press sites. I own sites that are much easier to handle and I wish these sites were the same. I am continuing my lessons and have went back over some of the previous ones also. Just having problems understanding the way WordPress does things. It is all greek to me as I have no technical knowledge of coding or any of that. I will figure it out or put my content on one of my own domains.
If you take a look at WA, you will notice that this site is full of information about making money online and giving ppl a chance to do so. AN INFO SITE, I understand that if you want to make your site work and rank in the search engines you need to have seo set up on your site, and articles written every week or two. Once you start doing this and researching for your articles, take a look at their sites and see what they offer, how there layouts are, what are their pages. you may find that you will change your layout a few times until it feels right, i have had mine since june and changed it about 4 times, adding pages, realizing what my site should offer and sticking to that and the kinds of things that i should blog about. i think that is why WA offers free sites, so we can explore it abit and see what works for you before spending money on your site.
I hope that helps answer one of your questions. and dont forget to ping your site and goto google and yahoo to get your site indexed by them.
Thanks, I will do that. I made a mistake changing the theme and now I am having trouble with the new theme. Trying to resize pictures, move content to different headings.....it is very confusing with this WordPress stuff. I will eventually figure it out, but I am becoming more tempted to use one of my own sites. I can do all kinds of things on them and not have this problem. Hard to move forward when you are stuck in the mud. I am still forging ahead, just slower than I would like. Thanks for your advice.
Go-daddy is pretty reputable, but, it is generally not considered good practice to buy the domain and hosting from the same provider, by the experts at website building. I am not one of the experts by any standard. I know and understand business and am learning all the cool things about applying technology to create leverage and customers for my businesses,
I think you are so caught up in setting thing right and perfectly, that you are losing the basic focus of your business, which is solving your clients problems.
Trust me i recognize that problem, because I was the "Grand master of analysis paralysis."
Now I usually try and find the simplest solutions, like a catch page, and an auto-responder to get the list going and then worry about the website. or direct contact. I know most everyone will laugh at me and say instead of driving the car, I am pushing it down the freeway. But nothing feels better than getting paid for your work and making money. Even if I stumble in the beginning and get things improved with time, making money will put a smile on your face. Basically don't compromise the basics of business for everything to be perfect.
Your additional responsibilities are important too. Hope this helps, if you would like some more ideas and thought on marketing or business, I would love to help, on the technical stuff, I am not the right guy.
I just need to get my site set up in an orderly fashion so people will be able to navigate it without confusion. I know what my content is, I know how to do that and it is the darn technical crap that is making me crazy right now. I am ready to delete this site and redo the darn thing and see if I can get it layed out right. Need to resize the pictures too. Thought I had that figured out and got the picture on the home page down sized and saved it and updated it. Went to look at it from the outside looking in.....The stupid picture was still the same size. Took a break and made myself a st rong cup of hot Herbalife tea! I really needed it! Glad someone else is lacking the technical skills besides me! LOL I am just so frustrated and I guess I need to call up a friend's son who does websites and ask him what to do with this before I scream and run to the hills! LOL It is not good to be a perfectionist, by nature. I have to laugh at myself though cause it is funny to watch me grumble and talk to my website! LOL If I were a witch I could just twitch and it would be the way it should be. Alas, I am not Samantha Stevens from Bewitched!
Good questions Debbie. I think it's important to get things set up right in the beginning. I will let others more qualified than I am help you with the tech stuff.
But I did want to pass on a bit of "advise" I got some time back from several experienced people.
Most people will not get hosting at the same place they register their domain name. The reason is that if there is any problem with your domain registration, they can shut down your account because they also control your hosting. In other words, they would have 100% control over your business.
Personally, I have all my domain names registered at GoDaddy.com even though there are less expensive alternatives. I think they are tops. But I have hosting at HostGator, one of the best hosting options, but I also have hosting at Wealthy Affiliate...they are also tops.
Good luck,
Juan
That is good to know. I have the following domains: debsrealdealzonline, debsdietandwellness.com,debsdietandwellness.net, and takingcareofmomma.com. so I have been wondering what to do. I wish it was easier to just ask Kyle or someone what to do instead of leaving posts everywhere. I would like to do something with my big site but without some serious answers to my questions, I am a bit afraid to do much of anything. I don't want to jump in head first and be totally screwed up, if you know what I mean,
I appreciate you comments and help. glad someone answered me.
Your best bet is to send a PM (private message) to either Kyle or Carson...Don't send them emails. They just get lost. They usually answer their PMs promptly.

Thanks Debbie, just got done reading your latest blog. So glad that it's not just hype here and that the support is for real. As soon as I can figure out how to pay for the premium spot, I might just do that.
I was just reading about a member here that took a year before he made a dime and that wouldn't work for me. I can take a three, maybe four month hit, but that's about it for me. Soooooo, hopefully I'll get over to your side of the road shortly. Thanks again Debbie and best of luck to you!
