Cautiously optimistic

Ok, so my experience of this site so far has been a bit of a mixed bag. I do feel that the free training has taught me interesting and important things, enough that I am very willing to sign up for the next phase for only $19 or so. It's a no-brainer. There is good content here.

But the majority of the community interactions seem to be copy paste jobs. I see so many posts where the response just doesn't fit the post at all. As though the responder hasn't read it. "Congratulations on seeting such ambition earning goals! You can do it!" on a post that set a goal of $1, for instance. It feels like impersonal spam. I understand that the community is big, but I am still an old school believer quality over quantity. I'd prefer three relevant words to an irrelevant wall of text.

But let's see where this next step of the journey takes me. I am cautiously optimistic.

Hi Will, Great Goals. Congratulations. Well Done. Bye.

I'm joking, LOL.

No, honestly welcome.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean.

This probably won't win me an "brownie points", but it is something that typically goes on.

I will say that a lot of the same queries and questions arise, so I see nothing wrong with copy and pasting a link to an answer. That's fine. It saves time.

However, I have often read posts by members stating what they do here on a daily basis, and this will include "welcoming new members".

That's all fine-and-dandy if it's done in a genuine and authentic manner, but fairly often it may be done simply to garner more followers and "likes".

I'm not saying this is always the case, but it does happen.

Chasing WA rank (your ranking is at the top left of the page under your photo) may be a reason for this (the ranking system is basically about how active you are within the community and has nothing to do with actual online success).

Don't get me wrong, there are people who post very regularly, are extremely helping, genuine, authentic, etc. and have obtained a high rank in WA, and I devour everything they write because I find them interesting as a person or simply that they always provide great information.

But this isn't always the case.

I'm probably not as active here as many other members, I generally don't welcome new members on a daily basis, and I usually only respond to posts/questions or write blogs if I have something to say.

I don't think that makes me any less "helpful" than others, it's just the way I am.

Nevertheless, the community as a whole is a wonderful environment, and you could literally spend a lifetime here and learn something new every day.

So, soak it all up and enjoy.

Thanks
Partha

Partha,
Wow!! I wish I had written that response!
Shaunna

Thanks Partha,

To be honest I am probably being a bit oversensitive after joining a previous community and being treated more as a target for upsells and prospecting than a member. Thanks for encouraging me to give it another shot. I apprecaite the time you put into your well-considered message.

Warm regards,
Will

Copy it and paste it later! ;)

🤣🤣 LOL

Hahaha,

You'll go far... LOL

That's one of the great rules here at WA.

No promotion within the community.

We're not here to sell anything to each other, simply to help.

We can't even link to our blogs/websites within posts (although you can of course add these to your profile in the "follow me on" section).

Partha

Shaunna,

I half expected you to.

You're very much like me - what you see is what you get, and I'm gonna say it how it is. LOL.

Partha

Hi William!
You will find that there are some 'copy & paste' responses from certain members... why? I've never been able to answer that myself, so I just scroll past them.

I started off cautiously optimistic as well, and 2 years later, I can honestly say I've never looked back!

Shaunna

Thank you so much for the authentic response, Shauna!
I really appreciate it. It actually made me smile.

You absolutely made my day.

And if you don't mind, I would love to send you some messages to ask about your journey and success over the last two years.

William,
You may message me, thank you for asking!
A couple of things you should know first...
1. I'm on MST so depending on where you are, my responses may be behind the clock for you.
2. While I am a positive person, I can be brutally honest...LOL
