Boost your internet connection
Boost your internet speed? A good internet connection can really boost performance of work that we can do to our site, blog, research or training. I know from my own experience waiting for pages to download can be frustrating and cause less progress on the business we are trying to build.
A little background on me I am a telecommunication technician at one of the top five pharmaceutical companies in the world (I run low cat5,6,6A) But one thing that I do know is how networks run and how data is transferred.
At my house my connection was suffering so I ran an internet speed check. The results were bad at download 27.mbps (mega bytes per sec) and up load speed was 10.2 (mega bytes per sec). I knew that this was really slow considering that I am paying for 150 mbps download.
Well I simply made a Category 6 patch cord with two RJ45 connectors. Hooked it up to my router than to my laptop and BAM! After running the speed test again it was over doubled My speed With 76.2 mbps download now my upload speed was only a little better at 11.6 mbps but every little byte helps. I know that when I am working i always have several tabs open and am constantly going through other pages.
I did preform the speed tests 5 times for each connection WiFi and LAN line the numbers above were the average. The patch cord was 50ft long ran it through my wall to my basement office.
Thank hope this helps.

You have no idea how lucky you are at that speed. Sound like my connection ..in megabytes per minute! (on a good day) in Malaysia. And that is at top speed!.
I know that i am lucky with my internet. I just figured if it helped me it can help others.
Let me know if you have questions
I wish I can follow the instruction William but I am not savvy guy when it comes to electrical thing. I may get a technician to do the checking and do the necessary adjustment. Thank you for sharing.
:)Joe
Will do that William. Thanks a bunch.
So in short, all I need is the category 6 patch cord with two RJ45 connectors. The I get this connected to my router and laptop. That's it!

Router < ---------- Cat6 Cord + RJ45 ------------> Laptop
Does this the same for all countries?
Thanks a lot. I am learning something today.

You try kicking it? Sweaing at your connection..? Usually my point of action when the net is slow!
Yep and after connect one end into your router in to spot that says ethernet. The other goes into computer and your done. If you need anymore help please ask i am here to help.
Yes it has a lot yo do with your connection cat6 has more twists in the four pairs and also has a plastic piece inside to keep pairs separated for way less interference and faster speed
Wow, this is a very nice info. I checked our cord, no wonder it's slow. My husband bought a Category 5. I really have no idea that the cord has something to do with the slowness as well.
Thank you so much for sharing it here.

That speed is a lot better then what I get in Australia. We recently had our system improved (at least that's what we're told) to a National broadband system., Replaced the old coper line system. Unfortunately they only put the new lines in to the connection at the front of each property. From that connection to the house is still copper. For a large fee we can have it fixed to the home. Jim
So you recieve your internet through wifi right if so you can ordor a wifi amplifier for about 40$US. That will plug into an outlet to improve your connection. It only takes about 15min to set up. Makes your connection a lot better throughout the house. Belkin makes decent ones.
Hi have an amplifier, it's great for my mobile but does nothing for my PC. I do most of my work from the pc and that's where the issue is. Not the pc itself, it's the connection, I can have it improved but the cost is to high at the moment. Jim
I think thats because your pc is not using wifi. It is probably connected into a wall jack/lanline or directly connected to your router. I am just speculating because I can't see but thats what makes sense to me. Please feel free to give me more info and i will give you an alternative thqt is cost effective.
