Get Out of Your Thoughts

Hi WA Friends,

Many of you here are probably open to the idea of self-improvement. After all, why else did you choose to learn something new by signing up here? Thatโ€™s a huge step in personal growth alone.

You want to better your circumstances or learn new things to keep your skills sharp. You may want to grow a profitable business. Or you may be benefiting from the awesome hosting and site support that is offered here.

I generally like to try and read a few uplifting things each day. It helps me stay grounded and get out of my thoughts sometimes.

One of the beauties of WA is that we can dive into other membersโ€™ posts to help brighten our day. We can make new connections here. Or we can learn a new skill via a lesson and apply that new knowledge to improve our businesses.

The idea of personal growth is so much bigger. It is as much a process of unlearning as it is of learning. I mean, think about all the messages youโ€™ve been told throughout your life.

Things like, โ€œyouโ€™re not smart enough or good enoughโ€ may be an example of internal messages youโ€™ve been programmed to subconsciously think about yourself. Who says you canโ€™t do this?

But have you ever stopped to challenge those internal negative thoughts?

What makes them valid? Is it really true? I highly doubt it is.

Using affirmations or positive self-talk is all good. But sometimes it can feel disingenuous because weโ€™re so used to thinking the worst.

Sometimes hearing โ€œeverything will work out just fineโ€ can seem like an outright lie because weโ€™re so used to thinking our situations will never improve.

Ultimately, we donโ€™t know what the future holds.

Itโ€™s definitely not possible to eliminate all our sources of stress. But we do have the power to improve the quality of our thoughts by being self-aware. And thatโ€™s a big one.

Reframing those negative thoughts and challenging them can definitely improve our situations. Sometimes itโ€™s just making that shift in thinking that can turn your moment around.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hello Susan,

I love the power our thoughts can have. I find that what I focus and give attention towards becomes heightened.

Hence I strive to look for the best in every situation as hard as that can be some days.

All the best to you my friend :)

Kind regards
Erica

Hi Erica! Nice to hear from you...I hope all is well with you. Thank you for weighing in. That's great advice. We must keep trying.

Best wishes to you my friend :-)) ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Thanks Susan, I am well and I hope everything is going well for you :)

Great to hear, Erica :-)

Thanks so much Susan :)

Nice one! Your title reminded me how hard it is to get out of my thoughts when I'm trying to go to sleep at night. Sometimes they are too much of a good thing.

Self-talk can be good or bad...our choice. Don't they sometimes say we are what we think? Then, might as well think of ourselves as we'd like to be.

Thanks, Fran! Yes, sometimes late at night our thoughts can take over in the silence of darkness. Best to think as weโ€™d like to be as you say.

Hi Susan

Excellent post! ๐Ÿ‘

Positive thoughts and energy lead to motivation, consistent action, and the best results.

Adding things we enjoy doing into each day helps in keeping a positive direction in all things!

All work and no play can be counterproductive in the long run. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Hi Susan

Yeah, a lot of us are aging out so we get together whenever we can.

We just lost one of my aunts, but she almost made it to 101!

Hi Frank...I hear ya! Simple gestures now mean the world. And any time you can gather to have food and share a laugh is extra special.

Wow, 101 - absolutely amazing!
