Will You Be Unusually Successful In Business?
I want to share a story with all of you. A couple months after I started out at Wealthy Affiliate, I received this message in a fortune cookie:
At this point, I hadn't earned a single dollar online, and to be quite honest - before you earn that first commission it’s difficult to believe online marketing will truly work for you. I knew there were people here making money (and lots of it) but was it going to work for ME? Was this something I could really pull off?
There were doubts in the back of my mind, but my motivation to actually earn online was so strong that I pushed forward and kept working - even after seeing no traffic or sales for two months. I kept working through the training and writing, writing writing!
So, when I saw this fortune cookie I was a bit giddy. I hadn't ever gotten a fortune that was really relevant to my life - but having just spent the prior months pushing so hard to start my online business, I saw it as a sign of encouragement.
But I pondered about this cookie’s fortune for quite some time- was I really going to be unusually successful? If you look at statistics, the odds are not in your favor of actually being successful making money online. I’m not sure what they are, but something like 1-3% of people who start out actually “make it” online.
But the truth is, it’s ultimately up to the individual whether or not they’re successful. Most people will end up giving up and that is why they fail. There are so many reasons people give up - some don’t have the time, dedication or motivation. Many people fall victim to scams and assume making money online must be one giant scam. Perhaps a huge reason people give up is because they are misguided and don’t have any help along the way. Gosh, if I hadn't had anyone to help me I know for a fact I would never have made a single dollar online!
This is why Wealthy Affiliate is so amazing - it can really help anyone turn their small chances for being successful online into a reality. The training is here, the tools are here, the HELP is here! How many people starting out online have access to a community of helpful people 24/7?
So perhaps my success online is unusual if you look at statistics - but I only have the community here at Wealthy Affiliate along with my own desire and motivation to thank for that. :)

Nice post Wendy, thanks. Statistics are always skewed in my opinion for what is left out; like in this case, the reasons people don't succeed. We know that success requires taking the road less travelled and making the sacrifices...however long it takes. And I always say, you can't say what I have or haven't accomplished until I'm dead. So, to success and many blessings to everyone!! :-)
