Backwpup & Dropbox not working? Have you checked?
Just want to post a short message, it appears that some people using Backwpup are getting error messages like:
The HTTP response test get a false http status (500)
I've tested and checked this on two different hosting companies outside of WA and everything is working fine. Testing on WA hosting with some free test sites I created, two work fine and two return the error:

My guess and it's only a guess is it's related to the server the sites hosted on, maybe a setting is different etc causing this error.
I recommend that you check and see if it's working, if it's not working you should submit a ticket. Or look into another alternative.
The two test sites I ran into problem are using the following IP 107.22.190.17 and 54.221.237.8

Kept getting the 500 response, but I think it may have something to do with time. Initial download, backup in the am - 500 response. Then after 2 pm, backup was successful. Maybe location and broadband width which has to do with IP selection? Am not a techie as you know, but try to find a reason for everything to understand what I am doing better. Don't we all? ^_~
Hi Welshy...thanks for the DropBox and BackWPup Plugin tutorial. Unfortunately, the BackWPup plugin installation keeps failing...this is a later version of the plugin (yours is 3.0.6 and that doesn't come up..as of June it's 3.0.13) than the one in your video but I'm not sure that should matter. Is there another plugin you can recommend for me to try?
I looked thru many and found one that looks good. It's "WordPress Backup to Dropbox" by Michael DeWildt

Is the site or sites you're having problems with on WA hosting?
If it is can you please post the sites IP address.
If you're not sure what the IP is, go to
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/web-sites-on-web-server/
Enter your domain, it will tell you the IP but also return a list of other domain it knows are using the same IP or in the past used that IP
What error message are you getting?

I have alternate training coming out over the weekend for backing up to dropbox. Thanks for the heads up!
FYI, I just tested the plugin you mentioned the day in a comment, that one also doesn't work on the sites or servers with the problem. But it will still be good to have more options etc.

(This is for anyone having that same Error I was having)
First of all, thanks for this heads up post. I took a look at my sites using BackWPup and found this error code:
ERROR: No destination correctly defined for backup! Please correct job settings.
I had to go back into that job > click the "General" tab > under the "Job Destination" section tick "Backup sent by email" > click "Save changes"
I went to the (now visible) "E-mail..." tab and made sure I had the correct email address in the box (I chose to send it to a gmail address). Click save if you make any changes.
Ran a DB back up and it work ok.

Oh and thanks for sending me that link a few weeks ago, related to dup contain and local businesses. Was very interesting. I checked some of the sites and search terms mentioned in the video and the site ranked too.

Found 320 domains hosted on the same web server as twitchlol.com (184.73.154.238).
Are you trying to see if the Errors are popping up on certain IPs?

So obviously GoDaddy is not claiming any problems with their servers, nor any type of solutions. Like I said a few days ago, I think I'll just renew this hosting with someone else when it comes due. I know Godaddy hosting doesn't allow outbound ftp access, so no backup plugin would work, unless you had it sort backup on your own hosting server at Godaddy.
Just thought I would add that I have just checked one of my sites and the message in the job for this plug in is : Running since: 354586 sec. Something is definitely wrong.

Under Jobs, you should probably click stop, no need for it to be doing anything when it cant complete a job. What's IP is the site using?
Welshy, I think you will recall I raised a ticket on this with Support as I had the same issues.
Here is the response which I received:
Resolution Response: We have checked this for you. There do not seem to be any errors logged on servers to detect the failure. 1. the automated jobs seemed to run fine ( Run now still fails ) 2. The jobs also ran when done by " with a link " option in schedule section. It can possibly be the issue with the plugin version, you can try removing and using an older version of the plugin. Also let us know the failure errors which are logged in any other site.
So if anyone else has this issue raising a ticket would seem to be the way to go forward,

For a change, mine is working perfectly. It backs up to dropbox every morning at 3;00 A.M. I have 3 days of backups in my dropbox at all times. That last server setting you sent me (that I forwarded to the support team) must have gotten my settings right! Maybe you could forward them that letter again. Here's what you sent me:

I switched my backup setting to send to a folder on my pc and to my email and it ran this morning. Another member was having an issue too

The problem I'm having is that BackWPup states that I have to authenticate Dropbox but when I press reauthenticate I get a virtually blank page with the statement -
Dropbox API: (7) couldn't connect to host
0
This has been happening for a couple of days and at varying times too. Please Help!
