Are You Making A Mistake Offering Freebies To Build You List?

There’s a tactic better than giving ‘Freebie-Lead-Magnets’.

A better method would be to offer (not free) them an immediate solution to a problem they have.

What they want more than some ‘Free-Lead-Magnet’ is an immediate, clear solution to a problem that you can solve.

You need to give people a reason to join your list but it doesn’t have to be a freebie.


If you train your subscribers to expect something free to get on your list, then you are going to attract a group of people who are primarily seeking free things. And that’s not a good thing.

It’s actually much, much better to have people on your list who have bought something.

Here’s a way to do this. Take the thing that you were going to give away, increase its value. Make it a really, really valuable thing. Solve a problem for them and have it as a product to sell at an irresistibly low price point.

Explain that you’re not after their dollar; you’re only interested in people that are serious & not just ‘tire-kickers’.

Here’s the thing … if you have small, low-priced, front-end type products that people will buy, then they get on to your list as buyers. And once they bought something (even if it’s just a buck) they are a much better qualified prospect than somebody who has opted-in for a freebie.

Now you might be asking yourself, “What if I have a hard time selling this thing?”

Have a product that normally sells for $30 and offer it to them for $1 or $5. Or find ‘JV’ Partners with ‘Buyer’s Lists’ and offer this thing that usually sells for $30 and let them offer it to their list for a discount or for free. Have them send their people to your Optin List or Squeeze Page.

They see that it usually has a price tag associated with it but they just got it for a discount or free.

You can actually get buyers on your list even though they haven’t bought anything specifically from you.

You want to think of ways to get qualified prospects, people who have bought things before, people who are looking to solve particular problems and get those people on your list.
