How to Setting a GOOD Goals?
How to set good goals? Do goals have to have a deadline? Do the goals have to be realistic? Can I have multiple goals at the same time?
Those are the most common questions asked about goals.
My first answer to all of that is to do it in the way that works best for you!
Before I tell you what I think is most important in a good goal, I would like to open up what the goal means to me.
For me, a goal is some desired state in the future th at I want to achieve. The future may mean that later in the day or years from now.
In general, I don’t want to set a time limit for my goals unless I have to - time limits are often only limiting. From the point of view of achieving the goal, I think it is more important than the action leading to the goal has a certain time limit.
What Is a Good Goal?
I think there are two important things in good goals:
1. YOU HAVE CLEAR SIGNS FOR YOUR GOAL THAT YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ACHIEVED YOUR GOAL.
It is good and important to add signs along the way.
- Signs help you better understand your goal status and they also help you accomplish it.
- Signs can also be used to distinguish how the target state differs from the present moment.
For example, if you are already in good shape and your goal is to be in good shape, your sign could be that you can run 10 miles easily. This is a good sign in case you are currently able to run less than 10 miles or it is difficult for you to run that distance.
If your target state is to be happy, your sign should tell you how differently happy you are in the target state than you are now. For example, you find yourself happy in X situations where you didn’t know how to be happy before.
In my latter example, the signs help you get to your target state quickly because you can start practicing directly to be happy in the situations you set as a sign.
2. YOUR GOAL SHOULD BE SOMETHING WHAT YOU REALLY WANT AND SOMETHING FOR WHAT YOU WANT TO DO ALSO DIFFICULT THINGS TO ACHIEVE IT.
If you don’t want to do anything in front of the goal, you probably won’t do anything. Your goal should get you excited. If it doesn’t evoke feelings in you, it hardly matters that to you.
So don’t choose goals for yourself that you don’t want to do anything about! You experience unnecessary pain from them and feel failed in vain. Just choose the goals for which you want to do something!
What if the goals are set at work and you don't want to do anything about them? I recommend that you set your own goals for those things so that they are something you want to accomplish.
Because I like simple models, my focus with my goals is on the two things above the most.
When you do the first point properly, you will also understand the goal more closely. By adding the right signs, you will make your goals better and more attractive.
What about that realism? I just think the goal you set for yourself for a short period of time, like the same day or week, needs to be realistic.
Otherwise, I encourage you to think about the best possible scenarios and it really isn’t always a realistic option. Realism is based on the thoughts of the moment and as thoughts change along the way, I recommend always aiming for something that is the best you can imagine, even if it is not realistic.
The most important task of a goal is to guide you forward in life. Not necessarily that you would achieve every goal.
Hopefully, these thoughts will help you set yourself good goals more easily. Try it and find for yourself the way that works for you!

If these don’t work for you, then do it the way that works best for you. There are many ways, but I think it is good to simplify these. I often see that people make this too complicated!
What is your opinion on the matter? Do you have your own styles for setting goals?

Yes, everyone of us set ups a certain goals to fulfill.
To reaching those, and if there are 2 options to select which is the best that could help and getting more handy, more efficient than the old way.
Of course, we have to give ourselves a chance to be in there at the same time, noticing the good signs and be familiar to it and everything around it. In that way, we are nearer to fulfill our goals.
All the best to you,
Joyce
