Well I’ve had a few weeks off due to laziness, loss of motivation and massive procrastination. I’ve watched movies, TV shows, completed long term house projects and even got drunk a few times.

How did I get off the rails when I’m usually so damn motivated to create content? Well, I can’t really pin point why.

After 3 weeks of being in a content-less hole and avoiding my sites, I slapped myself across the face and said what the hell has happen??!!

With this face slap, I forced myself to write a post about procrastination. It was an absolute struggle for the first 20 minutes. I was typing jibberish to get my fingers and creative brain to wake up, but them……. LIGHTBULB MOMENT!

I COULDN’T STOP! I literally was like, the spell was lifted and words and idea just flowed like never before.

So, this was about a week ago now, I’ve re-engaged the creative forces and even started my third website. WTF…from can’t be asked to killing it again.

Anyways, I just wanted to share this as I know we all go off the rails from time to time. Maybe it’s good to go off the rails and become less productive if you return more productive.

What do you think? How do you get back on the wagon when you’ve fallen off?

Apparently you just needed a break! We all do from time to time. It's not a bad thing. You recharged and now you're back at it. That's what counts!

I think you're right

Way to fight back and beat procrastination and laziness. Keep writing and don't look back.

Great advice.

Procrastination can come in various forms: one through stress and can pressure oneself to disconnect without a clear plan to return or not; others can be by deliberate intention to take a break and return etc

Wise words. Thanks

Hello Vince,
Was wondering what happened to you. Definitely easy to put things off or fall into a slump. I just have to give myself a push to get started. Once I do, I am on a roll. Glad to hear you are back to business again. Happy Easter.
Marylou

Thanks for your comment Marylou. Back in business and crushing it.

That has happened to me too. Just as in your case, a slap in the face provides the motivation necessary to return to normalcy and reality.

All the best!
David.

The old slap on the face is one of my regulars that normally puts me back on the path.
Thanks for your comment David.

Hey Vin, procrasination can sometimes be my middle name. Your mind and body could have been telling you it was time to rest and it must have worked as you have come back rejuvinated and full of new ideas.

I haven't been around WA as much lately either but that is due to my own offline business and clients keeping me extremely busy.

All the best with your renewed productivity.

Cheers Caz :)

I like the idea that it the body telling the mind to have a break. Well that could just be it.
Thanks Caz

Lol, I have earnt that badge many times over. To the point where about a week ago I thought the only way I'd fix my procrastination problem was to research why it happens then blog about it. It seemed to work!!
Glad you are now smashing it Vince. I hope you and your family have a lovely Easter too.
Cheers
Melissa

Thanks Melissa. I'm having a fabulous long weekend and hope the same to you.

Hi Vince,
Procrastination can become a deadly force to overcome as far as working on the things that should be done... my business.

I have been there too often with "haven't got enough time right, oh this needs to be done first" etc., and on it goes.
I tell myself often, "if not now, WHEN!. This helps to keep focus and brings a stronger determination to get going and do what I need to do.

Thanks for bringing up an important subject that we all have to deal with.

Bill

Your welcome Bill. Thanks for your comment.

Yeah got this badge... always good to spot when its happening and give your head a wobble.

For me i can always find some training or someone in chst that needs help which serves as my distraction.

My resolution is goal setting; i give myself tight deadlines and do my best to stick to them. If i start falling behind i know my issue is getting out of control!

All the best,

T

Yep, Goals and deadlines give great structure to stick to the plan.
