A House Built On A Rock - Building A Web Based Business With Wealthy Affiliates
13 days ago I was "surfing" on the internet and was led to Wealthy Affiliates. I say I was led because I had already tried, on 3 previous occasions, to build web sites via other "opportunities". I was not certain who to trust anymore. I had spent thousands of dollars (that I didn't really have) on computer training. I even hired a personal computer consultant who performed a "cashectomy" on me and left me with a website that he built but I could not modify or maintain.
I am a retired 59 year old physician who looks great on paper but who, like many of my colleagues, mismanaged his personal life, his finances, and his career. I have little to show for all the work, the over 20 years of 24 hour call, and other sacrifice that goes along with being a "successful" physician.
What was I to do with the rest of my life? This time it will be family first. The internet seems to be the obvious choice but I needed someone to "hold my hand" and guide me through the process of becoming internet literate. I was functional with a computer..but I couldn't understand the internet language to become able to service my own site. And yet, through it all...I remained intrigued and optimistic about this mysterious medium called the internet.
Then, I believe, the Lord led me to Wealthy Affiliates. The up front investment was very reasonable, the lessons were very simple (I needed that), the most important things were clearly explained and had manual tasking, and I could see the results of the training fairly quickly, Oh sure, I still have questions, plenty of them (How will I multi-load my product pages with high quality products?). But, WA will teach me that process when I am ready for it.
WA focuses on CONTENT FIRST...what a concept. In medicine you sure want your Doctor to have "content" (academic credentials) don't you? That made sense to me. The lessons build one upon another. The foundation is GOOD CONTENT. Everyone knows that a house built on sand may stand for a time but will not survive a severe storm (my Bible perspective in everything:).
I am beginning to understand web site development. Kyle is Yoda..."Do or not do...there is no try" (insert Yoda voice here). As we methodically go through and do each lesson we grow ("...not just hearers but doers of the Word"...oops, there I go again with my Bible thoughts). Our content is our "rock" foundation...solid and immovable.
My plan is to be an ambassador for WA, profit as I help others with my content, and develop a substantial web business. Sounds alot like becoming a Doctor...only better.

Thank you for sharing with me, videre :) You seem to be a very reflected person, and you know where you want to be. You are on your way to that place, I am sure of it! You are grasping it, piece by piece, and it seems like you get more motivated the more you discover. Very uplifting to read! Very nice work! I'm looking forward to your continuation, Best wishes to you!
Awesome attitude, Jeffrey!
You will surely make it far if you have the patience and just make one step each day towards your vision!
I am glad that you found the right place here at WA!
Lets go for it :)
Hi videre. I've just read your post and I think it's very good. And I found myself nodding in agreement in a few places. Your sense of purpose will serve you well. And will ultimately serve others well. I do sense that there is very sound logic in the lesson structure and believe persistence is key. Thanks for inviting me over for a look.
That was really touching......u still have alot ahead of you to do. I guess we all stumble onto this site by error or by intention, which ever way we got here let make the best out of it. Best of luck your is nice
Am really enjoying your blogs. Love the term "cashectomy" but sorry you had to undergo such a ghastly "operation". The lights shine brightly here at WA (Wow, a whole new world waiting to be explored). Sometimes, though, the path can be dim and it's hard to see or understand what's ahead. Just have to keep adding those bricks of knowledge to the foundation we're building. Again, love the blogs - please keep them coming.
As a colleague myself (a dentist) I really understand you and feel you sir. Having a nice degree is not enough to manage your life the way you want it to be
It is never too late and I'm sure that here you will reach your goal with the right amount of dedication.
An enlightening article. Thank you for sharing
