The Extended Benefits of Wealthy Affiliate

I joined Wealthy Affiliate in February of this year. My intention was to learn everything that was taught and maximize my websites with all the wisdom that Kyle and Carson shared with us. At the time I was a neophyte to the on-line marketing world. I had previously only used my computer as a research tool while practicing and teaching medicine.

As so many others, I had been scammed by internet "opportunities" many times prior to joining WA. I wondered if this was going to be the same. There were some major differences though, right at the outset. You all know them if you have been in WA for over a week. For me, the character and the continued involvement by the founders of WA spoke to me loudly.

Whenever I became frustrated building my first website, rather than immediately doubt Kyle, I reflected on his character. In the end, that reflection has always proven true and the problem was with me. I needed to go back and review his lesson as I had usually missed something.

Several months into WA a curious thing happened. I discovered the Street Articles website. The slogan, "Where Writers Become Authors" was catchy. I liked the idea of publishing an article and appreciated the guidelines for quality that the website emphasized. I was able to write a few articles fairly quickly and get them approved for publication...cool. The next thing I noticed was that people were actually reading them...very cool. It wasn't long before I found myself reading articles and listening to podcasts about becoming a writer.

I have never thought of myself as a writer. I always considered writers introverts...I have always been an extrovert. Furthermore, I am a technical kind of guy with little literary training. My scientific writing style was overly detailed and dry...who would want to read that? But, blogging at the rate that Kyle recommended began to transform me. I had much more to share with people than I thought. My writing became more conversational...perfect for an extrovert.

My wife had been telling me for years I need to "write a book." My practice had led me through so many interesting trials and tribulations (literally) that I was "full" of stories. Since I was blogging so much I decided to take my published blogs and create an anthology of them. Once I started I realized that I could add more information and embellish the topics more in a book...so I did. In about a month I had a rough draft for a book which was published 2 days ago.

My first book, "Secrets to Effective Pain Management" became a reality. It has been placed on many of the on-line bookstores, Kindle, and other retailers. I have WA to thank for the inspiration (as well as my wife). I don't know whether I would have ever become a writer if it wasn't for WA. The skills that we learn at WA go far beyond internet marketing. There are many extended benefits to being at WA...my book is just one of them.
