Revamping Is The New "Black"

Many of you may be familiar with Netflix's original drama, "Orange is the New Black". Well, I now declare, throughout the Wealthy Affilaite Land, that any variation of the word "overwhelm" is now and forever replaced with "Revamp".

Tweaking is So Last Year...

So, let's take a look at the definition of revamp: to reconstruct, revise, renovate.

Now, I'm all for making slight adjustments, aka, tweaking, but there comes a time when your just need to get that wrecking ball and demolish anything in its path (I'm sure Miley Cyrus would love to help...preferably with the appropriate attire...).

Just to be clear, I'm not advocating totally destroying your sites to rebuild; if that's the route your want to go, I wont stop your. I'm just sharing with you what I decided to do with my site. Tweaking worked for a spell, but as I got deeper into the training, I've made a startling revelation: Tweaking will not get the traffic!

Riding the Revamping Rollercoaster

There were just too many things missing from my content; I've shared many times, that as I went through the Certification, I was stumped on the lesson on keywords. I couldn't figure out why I was having such an issue on what seemed to be an easy topic, but stuck I was. And as incredible as Kyle's training, I needed a deeper understanding. In came Bloomergp08. His training gave me the clarity to move forward.

So, I dove in to come up with astounding (in my eyes) content; but I stumbled (fell, crashed, tumbled, plunged...pick one) when it came to choosing great images. Not just great images, but great images that were relevant to my niche (that was a nugget). I heard of whisperings of alt tags and descriptions, but I didn't really pay too much attention... I was too busy writing mesmerizing (yep..still in my eyes) content. But something was missing...or more appropriately, some things...quite a few things, actually!

What's A Gal To Do...

Although I thoroughly embrace technology, I like to keep some things "old school". My first preference for getting organized is to write things out; it was actually months before I started to type up all my posts. I literally would write everything out first...everything. But when it comes to keeping track of progress, there's nothing like a good ole spreadsheet to get your going!

Because I discovered too many gaps, I decided I needed to create a spreadsheet. So, instead of tattempting to guess on whether I added what was needed (usually "not), I could just check off the appropriate box as I went along. Ideally, all boxes would be checked before posting; if I was missing 2 or 3 boxes, I could make the "executive decision" on whether to post, and just add what was missing within a day or two. To make sure I didn't overlook anything, I will highlight those missing slots, and once I got what was needed, I would enter a check.

Getting Your Content "SEO Ready"

It's possible that this spreadsheet will be tweaked - more likely just to add a few more "elements" - but I'm pleased with what I have for now and it's going very well.

So...without further ado, here are the definitions:

Keyword Title - I have a separate spreadsheet for my keyword search, but only the keywords I'm using go on this list.

KY - This is me double checking that the keyword I'm using meets the standard Kyle discusses in his training ( Avg 50+, QSR <200, KQI - Great, SEO 1-100, the higher the # the better)

MT - Meta Title

MD - Meta Description

ALT - Alt Tag

IL - Internal Links

EX - External Links

VD - Video (not needed for all posts)

IMG - Images

AL - Affiliate Links

P - Have I clearly stated the problem?

S - Have I clearly stated the solution?

B - Have I clearly stated the benefit(s) to the reader?

CTA - Call To Action

SM - Social Media

SPL - Spelling (Grammarly is great, but it's far from perfect. Check your spelling/grammar twice..thrice!)

Let The Revamping Begin!!!

There's definitely more to add, but this is a great place to start. More importantly, I'm excited to have some sort of structure to guide me along!

So...do your have a secret strategy to get your site "SEO Ready"? Feel free to share your comments, insights, and any tips that have been helpful. Thank your for reading...and always...

Strive to Thrive,

Veronica

I'm impressed. That's quite a system! I'm glad you've found some structure in the chaos. As for me, I'm still winging it. ;-)

I can be quite stubborn, Wendy, but there comes a time when you have to relinquish control...

Oh my goodness Veronica. this is priceless.. I am so with you let the revamping begin. I will not ever never ever use the world overwhelm again. Thank you!

LOL...I feel as if I say the word "revamp" now in every other sentence! It's a tedious process, Ariel...but oh so worth it.

Good grief, MIZZ VEE...you are on a roll. I love your spreadsheet idea, really nice. I also agree with you, there comes a time - read NOW - that you just have to buckle down and do what you gotta do in order to get what you have set as a goal!!
Wonderful idea, thnx for sharing.
M

I appreciate your words, Mee! I can spend time thinking why I hadn't;t thought of this sooner, but I believe this came to mind at just teh right time...NOW!!!

Indeed, Vee...it's all about the NOW!!

That is a great idea V. I need to do something similiar to make sure I have not missed any important elements to my posts.

I'm sure there will come a time when this will just come naturally for me. But, until that time, I'll just use my trusty spreadsheet! Let me know if you decided to add anything different, Craig, I'm open to ideas.

Lots of detail, an excellent post! Thanks Veronica.

Wayne
