How can I improve my PageSpeed Insights? It gives me suggestions but I don't know what I am doing. Any tips?

Hi Patrice,
I know that this can be confusing but what it is saying with the Total Blocking time is that your theme for your website is loading very slowly. It's possible that you have a big picture or title at the beginning of your website page?

What you will probably need to do is change your theme to a superfast-free one like Astra.

Then any pictures that you put in a post you will need to resize so that they are small and load quickly.

If you go into Google Search Insights from WA you will be able to see the loading speed for each of your posts and can try reducing the pictures first to get improve the speed.

Website > your website click View Details > scroll down to Google Search Insights

Let me know how you go.

Lily

ohhhh Thank You so much. I am about to do what you suggested and get back to you. Thanks again.

I am still working on improving the one score but the scores look a lot better. Thank You so much for your help. I have been racking my brain for weeks trying to figure this out.

Thanks, I need to hear that too!

Canty

So pleased that it helped Patrice.
You also need to look at the plugins that you have loaded on your website. Ask yourself, do I need this and what does it do, is it helping my speed?

Lily

Right. I did have lots on my site that I didn't need. Made a great difference. All of my numbers are in the green now. Thanks again.:)

Awesome!!
Lily

I usually use 600 X 450, Patrice!

For your photos?

Yes, Patrice!

Tom has the solution, but I did not understand the results of my test.

Canty

I don't understand either. I am going to optimize some of my photos and see if that helps.

I did see where it recommended plugins to install. will let you know how it turns out.

Canty

I will

According to Pagespeed Insight, there is apparently not high right with any of my sites, even the one with two posts on it.

Canty

I wonder if anyone has high scores on their website. I would like to know what they did to get them that way.

This one for the desk top looks okay but for the mobile, the pic above, its bad. Everyone basically uses mobile so I need to get that in good numbers.

Thank You:)

I just used Pagespeed Insights and got a score. There was so much red that I became lost. I have no clue at to what it even meant.

Something else to learn I guess.

Any advice on how to make my recipe post a good word length? I always get to about 200-400 words and then I'm done. I feel like there isn't much to talk about when it comes to

Hi, I didn.t read your post but it is good practice to highlight how the food content in your recipe is combined to be beneficial for your body and mind.
There is simple rules to much the foods. In this world exist three kind of food: alkaline, acid and neutral. When you eat alkaline food, your stomach produce acid gastric juice to decompose the food. Eating acid food is digest with alkaline gastric juice. When you eat on the same time alkaline and acid food your body produce two kind of gastric juice which are partially neutralize each other and digestion lost its strength. The unprocessed food is accumulate in the hips and belly as fat and in the joints as salts.
In this row of thinking avoid to combine acid and alkaline food in your recipe when is possible. It is good for your test but not for the body. I give you this rule as example how you can promote your recipe . There is more rules for right matching the content of the food recipe....:))

Hi Patrice, I haven't read any of yours, but you could maybe explain why the recipe is good for them from a health aspect. Maybe how it could save time and money during the week with leftovers, just thinking out loud here as I love to cook.

What are some questions people would ask about the recipe? What is the end product, and why is it good? What are the health benefits of it? Important things you need to know when making it...etc.

Those are just some ideas, if you look around at some recipe books and recipe sites online that are a bit more verbose with their recipes, look at what they are doing. That will give you some ideas as well.

Hi Patrice,

Check out some of the food blogs online. Just search for a recipe: vegan chili for example. They seem to spend alot of time talking about cooking techniques, FAQ's, ingredients and ingredient substitutions, health effects, and on and on.

Hope that helps,

Rex

Hey Patrice
OK, so 1st you have the story behind the recipe - where did you get it from, how often do you cook it, do your family just love it or is it for you only, then, 2nd you have your ingredients - where did you get them from, why did you shop there etc., then you have your spices - are there any alternative spices if your readers don't have 'X'
Now there's the cooking of it - what pan did you use, where did you get it from, should you season the pan before using it - is it non-stick, cast iron or plastic - what about utensils, do you use a wooden spoon, a fork a whisk, a stick from the garden etc. etc.
Then ask your readers for comments and answer the comments as soon as they appear.
Hope that helps
