Blog Commenting as a Traffic Strategy
As a follow up to my last blog on Giving and Receiving Comments, I just thought I’d share this amazing little discovery, okay well I think it’s amazing. Most of us if not all of us would love to have comments on our websites like the ones that are this particular site.
I could not even remember what I was searching for, but this guy’s site popped up on Google’s first page. In all honesty, I can’t remember if it was in first place or third place, but I clicked on it. What a discovery! The comments on there are like mini blog posts on this particular article.
I printed out the article, since there were a few things I wanted to reach out to the author (Andrew) about. Normally I like to do a print preview before I print anything from an article so I can see how the information lines up on the pages I’d actually want to print.
To my surprise, when I did the print preview, 78 pages popped up for this one blog article. 78 pages!!! Can you believe that? For me, that’s a first, so forgive me if I sound a bit astonished.
What was even more amazing is that the blog post itself was about 13 pages and that’s because the article was very thorough in relation to strategies you could use to get quality traffic to your blog. The first strategy highlighted was “Blog Commenting.” Go figure.
Here’s the thing though. As I mentioned, the blog post was just 13 pages, so what’s on the remaining pages of this post? COMMENTS!!!!!
You do the math. Omit the first and last page, and maybe a few more due to some spaces in between the comments, but to have at least 63 pages of quality comments on a post is freaking amazing! That’s probably one of the reasons why it’s such a great traffic strategy. Remember his blog showed up on Google’s first page.
How would you like to have 63 pages of quality comments on your blog posts?

thanks for sharing,
my immediate take away is from his instruction on blog commenting:
- Writing great blog comments requires you to read through the entire blog post thoroughly and be prepared to share your thoughts and opinions.
- If you want to have your comments stand out, then be genuine, engaging and thought-provoking with your comments.
all the best,
Yes it does. It might take a bit of time to read the post, but it's worth the effort and the when you think about, you're investing in yourself as well because you are building relationships via quality comments.
