Scam! Scam! Scam! Alert!

So we all know about scams and they seem to get better and better. This one is quite compelling. So if you receive it, bin it and empty your trash. Because only a few will read this here at WA - please post this in your next post so that as many people as possible don't get duped by the same scam. This is very serious but as you will see from my conclusion I am making light of it.

I have removed my email addresses here as they have so kindly inserted them.

What did I do when I received this email? I had a spa, got dressed, had a cup of coffee with toast, checked and responded to some text messages, read all my emails and then decided that the WA community needs to be aware of this scam.

First off when they address me as user, I am a little insulted as they do have my name as Michael. Then they proceed to tell me what a sordid life I've had and they want to make me famous by sending my activity to all my contacts...good luck with that, I have maybe 8 close friends the rest would have no idea who I am because the last time I may have contacted them would have been so long ago they wouldn't even know who I am now anyway.

Their english is atrocious apart from all the grammatical errors.

Plus, the email was retrieved from a job I left some time ago which is not current.

Luckily I also got a warning from someone else who also received this email.

So remember to share this with everyone you know and repost this.

Having said this, if you do get videos of me, let me know this could be my path to fame and fortune...or infamy, I'm not sure which.

I thought I would add this warning supplied online by an authorised website:

"Ransomware

Criminals are increasingly using specific malicious software (called ransomware) to trick people into paying money. You may receive a ‘pop up’ message while browsing online which purports to be from the police. The message advises that your computer is ‘locked’ because of accessing illegal sites and that you must pay a fee to ‘unlock’ it.

This type of demand will never be issued by a law enforcement agency. It is a scam designed to generate profits for criminals.

Users affected by this particular scam should not pay any money. There are numerous official websites and blogs with instructions on how to safely remove this type of malware from your computer. You can also seek support from an anti-virus provider or computer repair centre if they need assistance to remove it."

Wishing you all prosperity,

A while ago I did a post on how to track a scammer, you may find this post of interest:
