Fun with scams!
So my dear WA'ers I get a lot of scam emails....and I mean a lot! Usually between 100 - 200 over the weekend. So today I thought I might enlighten my fellow WA'ers on how you find the IP address of these people and where they live!...I am self taught and therefore do not endorse my solutions because there are experts here who will probably have a better way of doing this. But as I said in the title, I had fun!
If you read my post on how to work out a Scammers Email Address, this first image is one of the umpteen billion scam emails I get:
Now you will see the drop down of the sender and you will notice this email is from Chicago......
So I decided to copy the Chicago address into my browser and see what would come up or even if this person existed, and this is what happened!
Ooooh! I hear you people say...that was my reaction! I don't think this website is fake (just the sender is fake) they just supply what scammers want but they do have other services.
Then I thought how about I try their email in my browser:
As you can see my browser got very upset with me! But still gave me the choice...which I declined....
So then I went about finding out if I could get the IP address of the sender, now this part is a bit techy and requires that you find the full header for the email and each email app has a different way of finding it and once I found the header, I used this app to find it:
Once I copied and pasted the header into the app above it gave me the IP address....WHOOPEE!.....this is the result:
You will now notice that the email was sent from jolly old England no less! I could take this further but I'll leave it at that....I do have to work you know?!
Now wasn't that fun? ....and don't click on the link....you will not make $110 for a few minutes of speaking English...you'll be lucky if anyone even listens to you...LOL !
