Whoohoo! Page one and position six on Google!
I started a new website about 4 weeks ago called Beginning Online Business (BOB for short. :) :) :) ). Yep, that's my trial logo I've created. I'm not sure it will be the end product as I still have to add my business name and tagline.
It only has 8 posts and my post about Algorithms has hit the jackpot. Whoohoo.
I created that post for people who don't really understand algorithms and how they work in search engines. I used to program computers in the 80's (yes, I'm ancient) and it seems to have struck a chord with the everyday person who is having a hard time wondering how to get their posts ranked.
I think it worked because I do understand what it's like to be a beginner. It sucks being a beginner and there is so much to learn.
All those gurus out there that say they have a course to get you there quicker are talking through their hats. They don't tell you it took them 3-5-7 years to get there, just how hard they worked the last three months. Think about it, any job that requires a skillset takes time.
What with Wordpress, Themes, Plugins, Keywords, Tags, Taglines etc. How on earth is the beginner supposed to understand all these things and then write good content?
It's a minefield out there.
But, stick with it, the more you work, the better it gets. Unfortunately there is no quick way. You need time, authority (what does that even mean? LOL!!!) relevance etc, etc...
You're all very lucky here in that Kyle and Carson has provided an excellent framework.
If you are making a business out of this, focus is what you need. Stick with the training, don't make this a hobby, this is your job. Treat it like a job but have fun with it as well otherwise you'll quit before you know it and say it's too hard.
I truly hope that you make it, we have a great community here, use it.
If you're right at the beginning, the only way is up.

It is indeed a minefield Michael but one where I believe WA scores particularly highly on the mine detector path.
Kyle and Carson have put together this programme to walk beginners through from nothing to a live site with lots of the bells and whistles required. I should know because back when I joined up I was indeed a beginner.
What's more I was a beginner with no computer background, left school way before computers were a thing and never worked in a job that required any website building skills
I don't profess to be a professional website designer but then again I don't have to be.
WA got me online and able to navigate my way around a word press back office which for me is quite an achievement!

Bob is easy to remember and inspires confidence. The Bobs I have known are very easy going. I would stick with the name. I mean if Google already picked you up that is a bonus.
Although I am not a newbie I have been there so I see what you are saying, with each day that goes by it became easier and easier. just stick with it.

But it adds to my puzzle - been at it too long, and paltry results.
My site is very simple and I do enjoy it. I think that one has to be focused on writing to one person, which may be yourself, and to have fun with it. If you’re not excited by your topic it will be hard to get other people excited. I wish you all the best Dianne.
Look at littlemamas posts here. She’s worked at it for four years and has had amazing results.

Always good to kick off a new site, especially if we see results fresh out of the gate.
I have to agree, Michael, one of the biggest breakthroughs we can make is, shifting out of hobby mode.
Perfect timing with your new site, there's about 26 million folks in the US, wondering what the next move will be.
