Have you ever wondered what makes some of your content get ranked while other things you have written end up in the vast abyss that is everything beyond page 1? The answer in most cases is social engagement.
The more people who social your work the more Google will say hey this must be interesting to people because lots of people are sharing it. Most of you know that even if you're brand new to internet marketing.
What you may not know is that Google also takes how many comments a piece of content gets. In fact comments are one of the biggest determining factors that they use and the better the comment the more they pay attention.
It's one thing to say hey nice article thanks for sharing but if you can get a conversation going in your comments that's pure gold! It's really helps to if multiple people reply to one person's comment. This shows a deeper level of engagement than just the owner of the blog and the person commenting.
Google main objective is to bring there users interesting and engaging content so believe me this is a huge factor that in my experience supersedes just about everything else they use to decide where you're ranked at.
