What is Entwacklopædia Corner ?

You may well indeed ask 'What is entwacklopædia corner ?' Luckily I have the answer but as always, I may need to digress a little first. Don't sigh, it's just how it is. Fifteen minutes ago I had nothing in the cupboard and then realised I'd opened the wrong door and this one, well, it's just brimming. That word has obviously been in my mind after reading Jeff's post. In fact, if you need a little guidance to get back on the straight and narrow, you may like to have a read of it.

Where was I ? Ah yes, digressing, though actually, it's connected, sort of. We talk of 'inspiration' when it comes to writing, in particular, where do we get it from and why is it never there when you need it ? For the last, goodness knows how long, my morning process seems to be running along the same track. I have no idea what I'm going to write about. Occasionally I will, but these days that seems to be a rarity.

I'll do all my morning chores and some that don't need doing, in the hope that something will spring forth and I'll have to rush to the keyboard. Nope, just not happening at the moment. Obviously it will at some point or you wouldn't be sat here reading this and hoping that there's even a small glimmer of a chance of me getting to whatever point it is I'm trying to make.

You have to read that last sentence in one breath to get the full effect, a purposeful, distinct lack of punctuation. My bat, my ball.

Did you know that Sarah Brightman had a sister ? Amelia Brightman. I didn't until only recently, when I saw her performing with 'Gregorian'. Please don't ask me why I was listening to Gregorian. Anyway, we are going back through my thought process here, not my taste in music. So, I thought about Sarah Brightman because she was married To Andrew Lloyd Webber. He had come to mind because I remembered his brother, Julian (A wicked cellist).

I wonder what a digression within a digression is called ? Yesterday, I briefly and I mean briefly, no more than a sentence, touched upon my school-days in my post. This was picked up by more than one of you. In and of itself it's not very interesting, at least to me. It is, however, a huge resource of material. In fact, all of your lives are exactly that. You are you, there is no one the same as you and your life is completely unique. Think about that. Eighteen, twenty, thirty, fifty even eighty plus years of 'one off' experiences. Oh the stories you could tell.

So, if you're ever stuck for something to write about, take a meander down the lanes of your own memories and see what's there. None of it, initially, will surprise you I'm sure, until like me, you start to do some random associations. Then you have access to all those things that you'd forgotten about.

Let's drag my bad self back. I was thinking about the past, due to the mention of school, and

how it is a permanent reference library on tap. That in turn led me to thinking about post titles. You know, those one off, personal posts/anecdotes. 'Waking up tied to a lamppost' type of post, not that I ever did, I hasten to add. The one that came to mind was to do with Julian Lloyd Webber, hence why my train of thought went off down the winding path, that it did. CODA.

'Entwacklopædia Corner', or maybe 'Encyclopædia Twackica'. This is for me, when I am lacking in the inspiration department and it also allows me the chance to challenge myself. Actually I won't be using those titles, as this is for a site under a different guise, so as to allow me a certain latitude, you understand.

The plan is simple. I now have one 'digital' encyclopædia, hopefully with page numbers. If it hasn't' then it all falls apart, which would be a shame. Then I use a random number generator, to pick a number using the parameters laid out by the page numbers. 1 to 4578, or whatever it is. That will be the page. Depending on the number of entries on that page we'll run the generator again. If that number is 7, then I will count the entries until I reach said number. Wherever we end up will be the subject of the post. Like I said, random. As you can tell, I'm very excited.

I could end up writing about nail varnish or Pericles. It will be a good exercise, hone those research skills and try to turn banal into beautiful and dreary into cheery.

Well, I'd better 'do one' as I'm sure you have more pressing engagements to attend to. I'm off to read some posts and run a bath, in no particular order. I should see if there page numbers on this CD-Rom, not sure what to do if there aren't.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, one and all.

Good day Twack!
Glad you found your encyclopedia, page numbers not withstanding.
As I’m days behind in reading posts, in the vein of comedic genius I see we lost one of the greats today, Terry Jones, originator of Monty Python fame.
Sometimes your posts remind me of the wackiness they brought to the world. Maybe it’s a Brit thing.
At any rate it’s always great fun to open cupboards with you and see what we find.
Lovely day to you,
KyleAnn

Thank you KyleAnn.
I did stop and think today, after hearing about Terry Jones. Unfortunately, many of those that were a part of my childhood are sadly gone.
My foster brother had all the Monty Python Albums (Vinyl) I used to listen to them and learn the words to the sketches.
Ronnie Barker was another, with 'Porridge' and then of course there was Spike Milligan. All brilliant in their own way.
Dick Emery and Benny Hill were alright but it was more 'slapstick' which didn't really appeal that much, unless it was Laurel and Hardy.
Too many to mention. Really good humour is timeless as the perpetual re-runs of 'Fawlty Towers' prove.

May your day be as lovely as mine has been.

I agree, the slapstick genre of comedy wasn’t my favorite either. I never thought watching someone get hurt was very funny.

Exactly that.

Can I come over for a bath? When I came home yesterday afternoon I heard a never heard before loud roaring coming from underneath the gas heating unit. I immediately threw the dogs out in the garden after I turned off the gas heater, but the roaring persisted. I couldn't figure it out and call my handy neighbor over. It's a water line break he determined. How can that be in our now milder weather and why under the protecting house? Anyway, ran for the pliers and turned the main valve off at the street meter (I shutter to think of what that water bill will be).
Now I will be a dirty piglet until Tuesday ( Monday MLK Day).

Anyway, I think your new strategy for blog writing resource is a good one and an intelligent one, plus a very diverse topic one. Looking forward to it.
BTW., I like "Encyclopædia Twackica" , it suits you:)

Petra

I have an unhealthy dislike for all matters 'plumbing' so I envy you not Petra. I could run you a bath but by the time you got here, someone would have jumped the queue.
I am also looking forward to trying it out. Trepidation is building and I agree the 'Twackica' ending has a better feel to it.
Thank you Petra.

Ok Twack, not gonna lie! I did go back and read your post three times. I was sure I had missed something, so now this...

- you actually have an empty cupboard! Can I rent it?
- what is a chore that doesn’t need to be done? Is it still a chore?
- a “wicked” cellist? Is he from Boston? Cuz that would be “wicked pissa”! Sorry Boston talk!

Like;
Car keys = kahkis!
Park the car = pak da kaa! 😳😂🤪

Loved your post, I always do!

Gerry 👍🏻

Ha, Gerry, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has to re-read Twack's posts sometimes 😂
I also love his posts too, but not an easy read!

Kakhis and pak da kaa - I'd think it's something like swahili 😂

Too funny Lenka...but we love you Twack! 🥺🤷‍♂️

Colloquialisms aside, I enjoy listening to the Boston accent, it has what I would describe a pleasant 'lilt' to it. I had to refer to the 'Urban Dictionary' for full clarification on 'wicked pissa' Always learning.
Philosophical musings are always enjoyable. They do have me going round in circles though. Chore as per defintion cites both 'task' and 'duty' both of which could be construed as ambiguous when it comes to completion, maybe, I think, not sure, could be.
As for the empty cupboard space, I would love to rent it to you but it is in my head and that's really not a place I recommend spending any time in.
Anyhoo thanks Gerry.

😊😳

Thanks Twack!!

🙏

You are like those very witty comedians who use the nuances of everyday life to good efffect (rather than one liners) with Billy Connolly being the absolute master. He starts off talking about something that he had noticed, he then digresses, perhaps for 20 mins but eventually comes back to the subject in hand.... it is clever, spontaneous, requires memory, focus and a lot of skill.....makes you the audience feel like you helped craft the performance....

Thank you for cheering up my Sunday and helping me realise that sometimes “flying by the seat of your pants” makes for a better read, to let fear go and “go with the flow”

🤗

Any comment that starts with 'very witty' goes right to the top of my 'favourites' list.
Billy Connolly, genius indeed. He has a contagious humour that I am happy to be infected by, always coming across as if he's hearing the anecdote for the first time, such is his own amusement.
Thanking you largely.

Do you know the pleasure is all mine, you witty and clever TwAck 😇🤗

For most of us the content matters... for you Twack, it does not matter because you apply “Twackitive” to it! As in narrative writing style but your unique DNA on it.

You can be writing about your cupboard and I will still be reading it!

👍🏼 Twackigood,

🤣 Stanley

Wow Stanley, that's so kind of you to say. I might have to put that to the test.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend.
