'It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me and I'm feeling good.' Great lyrics and first sung by Cy Grant in 1964. Why am I quoting them here ? Well, when you have the seven traits of a champion, that's how you'll feel every day.

Guess what ? No purchase necessary and no previous experience required. You can start immediately.

As those who have been following my posts (at least those who are still talking to me and not

just to themselves) are aware, I have spent an inordinate amount of time at the ironing board. We are very well acquainted and, it has to be said, firm friends. During our time together Ii have listened to hundreds of hours of audio material. That's my 'cheat' at multitasking.

I have a notebook and pen on hand, just in case anything piques my interest. It invariably does, which is why, one, I have many of these books and secondly why I am here writing now. I would like to impart a small section of something I was listening to the other day. Let's face it, knowledge is just remembering and if we don't read it, see it or hear then how can we acquire it. I am just passing it on, with a little embellishment and in no particular order.

Seven Traits Of A Champion

Passion

We all have a passion for something. It can manifest itself as that 'fluttering' you get in your stomach in anticipation. This is also your reason, your purpose and your 'Why.' Remember, we're not talking about your average 'day to day' stuff here, this is about becoming a champion.

Belief

So with you passion you must have belief. This isn't an easy one for most to define unless we make religious parallels. It is actually 'knowing' in yourself that what you are doing will be successful, that you will be successful. Having no doubt whatsoever. Can you say that ? You just have to believe (with none of those voices saying that, the chances are, you won't succeed)

Strategy

This is where you take your dreams and goals and turn them into something that is real and attainable. You make a plan, have a strategy. Sometimes it helps to work back from your goal. Lay out all the different steps you'll need to take to get there. If something isn't working along the way, change it and try again, no matter how many times you have to do that.

Clarity Of Values

A biggy. Moral judgements. Choosing the right way over the wrong way. Even when the wrong way might seem easier, quicker or more profitable. Can you hold yourself accountable ? Not let your emotions sway you to another's level ? I know there are plenty of 'grey' areas out there but many of the choices and decisions we make will come down to our own moral compass, let's keep it pointing towards 'True north'

Energy

This, out of all, speaks for itself. There is no room for procrastination in the world of a champion. Eat well, sleep well and work hard. If you need to stick motivational notes all over you house or room, then do it. Use whatever you can to give you that 'lift' that picks you up and gets you back on track. I guarantee, you can always do one more.

Bonding Power

The ability to connect with others. I do not know everything but I know everyone. We all have a piece of wisdom, advice, knowledge or training that will help someone else out. Connect with as many as you can but think also that it is an opportunity for you to share what you know with them. Helping a person to achieve their dreams or goals is one of the best feelings there is, never underestimate that.

Mastery Of Communication

You have made the connections but now you have to actually 'connect.'

Be not quick to judge, correct or admonish. Listen, understand and accept.

Everyone is different but it doesn't take a great deal of effort to be cordial, friendly and pleasant. I am happy to do as much as I can for someone on the proviso that they are polite. Even when your not in the best of moods, manners cost nothing.

That's it. Headings courtesy of Mr. Robbins and the rest 'Ala moi' When you look through the list, there's nothing out of the ordinary there. Even if you put your own spin on it, it's all very achievable.

Nothing more from me. Hang on, sorry, one last thing. If we're being brutally honest here, then there really is only a couple of reasons why you won't succeed and they're not bad ones. What you do with your life is always down to choice. If success is not on your horizon, then that's because you don't want it bad enough or there is something else you want more. That's fine but just remember it was your decision.
