Anyone setup automated backups for the work you do on clients that use your own hosting service? If so, where do you point the backups? I was thinking maybe a FTP location on a

Thank you for asking this question! :) I learned something new!
Here is a tutorial on DropBox
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-backup-entire-wordpress-blog-have-it-auto-sent-to-a-free-dropbox-account

This is a solid option that I have used in the past, but I was looking for a non plugin option through my hosting service. I will however use this if I can't figure it out. Thanks again!

I use BackUp Creator on most of my sites. With that I can download a copy to my computer and do for safekeeping. You can also back up to DropBox from the software. Yes you can do both automatic backups and manual. It is not free but it is the best and easiest that I have used. Others can point you to some free backup services plus you can and should do an occasional backup from the tools section of your sites. that would be tools> export. That is the simplest but it does not cover plugins, themes, etc. Back up Creator does.

Thank you for this information! :)

Have not crossed that bridge, sorry. :)

Recently built a new site for a client on my own hosting services. I tried to setup redirects through hostgator c-panel but it doesn't seam to be working. Does anyone know if 3

Glad you got this sorted out! :)

They should work immediately. Are you on a reseller plan with hostgator? Have you read through HostGator's info on 301 redirects to double check what you did? http://support.hostgator.com/articles/cpanel/url-redirect-how-to-create

I am and I have. Are 301 one redirects supposed to go into the prior hosting services file structure? Or do I set them up on my new hosting server?

The 301s would be used on the new host. Has the client's site been transferred over yet? If so, how long ago? What happens when you go to the redirected url?

I ended up writing the lines in manually via .htaccess. For some reason cpanel was putting odd characters into the file...

Thanks for your help Chris!

You're welcome. Glad you got it sorted out. Have you ever tried the plugin Simple 301 Redirect ... https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-301-redirects/ I haven't but am entertaining the idea.

Sorry, I'm no help with that...someone will probably know. :)

Lately I've noticed a keyword or two that I'd like to leverage in my area for building a small local information or review site. My

I would advise that you place your address in the footer - that is SEO best practice and should not cause duplicate content issues when done that way.

If you have a Google+ Local Page Single Listing for your location, you will need to check their rules about business addresses. The rules vary, depending on the business type. This should not affect having the address in the footer on 2 websites - it only relates to a listing for a Google Plus Local Page.

Yes, I agree with Tommy you can have multiple site with the same physical address and company name. It is not going to be a problem as long as you are not duplicating any content.
Mahinthan

No this cannot be done

What you need to do is pick a domain name and create lots of post on it about what your site is about. No you can not have two sites with the same name unless you change the ending like .com .org .net

I'm not asking to have two sites the same name. I'm asking if I can have two sites with the same address info and how google will respond to that. I own a local marketing business and would like to rank a couple sites based on some hobbies of mine. They would be different domain names, but my business would own them and they would use the same address.

sorry i miss understood you yes you can have the same business address but just do not duplicate any content on them
