Why would you choose to begin with an outline? Many writers just sit down and write. And that technique can work well.

But if you find you have difficulties keeping your posts structured and staying on topic, try using the outline approach. I usually advise new writers to begin with an outline, too.

By using an outline first you may find these benefits:

  • Organized thoughts that make navigating easier for the reader
  • Easier scanning by Google and other search engines
  • Keeping on track with the article's flow
  • Avoiding rabbit trails

Do you know how to write a post using an outline?

Read on for a step-by-step process.

Hi there, this was excellent. I do use an outline but somewhere forgot that even if this is not a story I still need to "hook" the reader. I love the list and will definitely use it. I must say I normally spend a lot of time on my header and find it sometimes very difficult to add.

I'm glad you found the training helpful. Yes, the header can be a challenge. I'll be adding a training on that soon, too.

Wishing you all the best-
Diane

2 pgs notes later. Wow its gonna be long. Best for me so far is 350 and I feel like I take to much to begin with, plus on a phone. But I'll do whatever it takes to "get what I want" or you say reach my goal. Thanks , can I follow you?

Thank you so much for this very informative training, Diane. I find this very useful for me as I have scattered thoughts all the time. I just write whatever i want to write. I need to change some headings, subheadings, introduction, conclusion etc. Omg! Looks like I need to restructure all my posts lol. I need to keep referring to this to hopefully come up with a good post. Thanks again for sharing!

Hi Diane,
Thanks for sharing this.
In my case, I cannot change the size of my title head. Also, I only have H1 to h4 for the subheadings. I cannot even see the icon for changing the color of the font. Does it have to do with the theme? What theme can you suggest to do these, if ever? Please suggest a theme that would not require paid plugins, I do not have income yet to pay for paid plugins.

Thank you, Diane, I like the hook statement. I sometimes not sure how to do an opening that is catchy. Thank you for sharing this tutorial.

Thanks, Yvonne.
Yes, the hook can feel tricky, especially on some posts. But I find it is very important.
