Navigational Search Intent

Navigational searches are performed when searchers already know what page or site they want to log on to. They have a clear intent – visiting that specific site.

If a user has this type of thesis, they’d be said to already know you or the name of your brand. In order to optimize your site for this type of search intent, try having a clear squeeze page for your homepage and product/service, with details about the service you offer, your company and who you care for.

Add the name of your product/service and brand to the headings, page title, subheads, and Meta description. These are the signals for search engines to determine if you’re a good fit for the search type.

The most usual content type built-out for these searches are homepages and squeeze pages. Thus, coming up with a clear copy of your website alongside the steps mentioned above will result in a higher rank when someone searches for your brand.

Commercial Search Intent

In this type, the user knows what product or service they are searching for on the niche market, but aren’t sure yet what brand they would love to purchase from. They aren’t quite at the transactional point yet, but are searching to contrast products and various brands to see what complements their needs.

Commercial investigation also includes a number of localized reviews. The user might want to go out for lunch in Sheffield, but specifically want to visit a Chinese food restaurant.

To rank your site well in this intent type, you’d need to add more detailed descriptions for your specific products or services.

Based on your specialty, you could come up with a blog post contrasting products or services you personally use and how they’ve been of help to you. This can make you stand out because you’re giving value to your clients’ experience through actionable and useful advice.

Adding words such as review, top, best, using illustrative language, to roundups, reviews and blog posts and to the squeeze page will aid your content and page optimization.

Glad you found this training helpful, Alan! Really appreciate you bookmarking it! Optimizing your content for search intent will help ensure that you start getting some decent amount of organic traffic, especially now that Google has just updated its search algorithm with BERT - a machine learning system that is made to understand natural language better than RankBrain. Thanks for your time!

I've written a training tutorial about Google BERT. I hope you've read that! You can check it out at leisure. Thanks for your time!

So is a squeeze page like a landing page? Where can I find a model that shows me how to use it?

I would like to feature some of the products on my website for the Christmas season. Can I do this with a squeeze page? How could I do that? Show the product and an image and give a link to the post where it can be found? Uncertain how to do what I want to do.

Hey Fran, thanks for leaving a thought! Yes, a squeeze page can mean the same as a landing page, and you can use that to feature any product you have on your site for the upcoming Christmas season. Yes, you can show the product, an image and the link directing to the post on your site where readers can find it. All is possible in an effective email marketing system. I'd recommend you set up an ideal email marketing system with MailChimp. You can start for free. And if need be, I may have to write a guide on this in one of my future training resources. Thanks for reading!

Excellent! I am curious: did you write this training or are you sharing it from a different source you found. If the latter is true, you need to give them credit. Like I did when I shared the list of themes. I said: I searched for WP themes and found this list.
