One of my "favorite" clients recently decided to change his theme (following my recommendation) ... And believe it or not, he decided to replace his paid third-party theme with a free Wordpress theme.

It may sound strange, but it's a very common scenario ... Why? Because a paid theme is not necessarily better than a free one. In fact, the price it's (should be) a secondary factor ... There are many other - a lot more important - factors to consider when you are choosing a new theme. You can read more about this topic in my theme-related tutorial:

How to choose the perfect theme for your website

The point: he bought his old theme for a specific event manager feature ... which feature is missing from his new free Wordpress theme. But he is always very proactive and he immediately solved the problem installing a standalone event manager plugin.

End of story ...

But after reading his message, I suddenly realized that I haven't created any topic-related tutorial yet ... So I've made some research and I found a handy plugin that will allow you to create and display a cool event timeline feature on your Wordpress website.

But let's start with the obvious question: who needs timeline posts or an event timeline feature?

Well, the name is very straightforward, a timeline is nothing else, but a nice visual representation of time as a - usually vertical - line. And once again, there are many possible scenarios ... It could be an eye-catchy interactive way of displaying chronological or historical information. Many companies and site owners are using these visually appealing animated or interactive vertical timelines to display chronological information and various events with text, images or even videos and other content forms. It can be used to create unique and engaging about pages, blogrolls, portfolios, etc. You can use it to populate your site with attention-grabbing announcements loaded in proper chronological order. If you are running an event website, you can add cool timelines to live blog your events ... Or you can add timeline posts about your past events ... If you are running a travel website, you can use beautiful, information-rich timelines to present stages, locations, and events included in each trip, tour, etc. And so on ...

As I like to say, the only limit is your imagination ...

This is is why I've decided to create this short tutorial where I will show you how easy is to create and display a beautiful event timeline in Wordpress. Without changing your theme ...
