Transfer the Domain Name to Wealthy Affiliate
This is the first alternative.
Go into your domain name’s registrar and find where you can manage its properties.
In Namecheap, find the domain name and click the Manage button.
Here, you will be able to get into the Transfer section.
Click Sharing & Transfer.
Scroll down to the Transfer Out section.
The first thing you will need to check is whether or not Transfer Lock is on.
If Transfer Lock is on, it is not possible to transfer the domain name so you will need to click Unlock.
Get the Authorization Code
Before you can transfer a domain name to another registrar, you need an Authorization Code.
With the domain name transfer unlocked, click on the Auth Code button.
You will see a screen that provides some information about Authorization Codes, asks you to select a reason for your request, allows you to enter some additional information and requests your permission to contact you.
All of this is to enable them to try to talk you out of transferring your domain name away from them.
So my advice is to select Other as the reason, don’t add any additional comments and don’t tick the checkbox giving them permission to contact you.
Click the Send Code button.
You will see either a warning not to share your authorization code with anyone plus a reminder that you can’t transfer a domain name that is less than 60 days old or confirmation that it has been emailed.
Your authorization code will be emailed to the address you have on file with this registrar.
The email may take several minutes to arrive and the code will be long and complex.
You can copy and paste it into Wealthy Affiliate to initiate the transfer.
Initiate the Transfer at Wealthy Affiliate
In your Wealthy Affiliate Home Page, go to Websites >> Site Domains.
Click the Transfer a Domain to WA button.
Then simply enter the domain name to be transferred and the associated Authorization Code you were emailed.
Click the Add Domain Name button to initiate the transfer of the domain name to Wealthy Affiliate.
Note that WA refers to the Auth Code as a Transfer Code. Don’t worry, it’s the same thing. Different Registrars may use different terminology.
You may be required to pay the 12 months registration fee to complete the transfer, but this should be added to any unexpired time that you have from the previous registrar.
The good news is that I can use the time to write more content and have a well-populated website when I do start up.
