There are 2 stats for comments, Visitor Engagement which tells you how often people are commenting on your site, and Your engagement with Visitors.
Which tells you how often you engage with your audience.
Comments help build your sites trust and authenticity around the internet so you should always encourage people to leave you some feedback.
A great way for this is to utilize the site comments tool here in WA.
To request a comment you have to first give 2 comments to 2 different sites.
Now I encourage you to leave engaging comments, don't just comment on the layout of the website. That's what the site feedback is for. You should question the creator or if you agree with their blog tell them what you agree with.
Now once you start receiving comments it would be best to respond to them.
Why?
Because as Kyle has said in his training comments are also content.
I once commented on someone's blog (Can't remember who sorry :( ) and that comment had actually ended up ranking under my name for a while. Not sure if it's still there though I haven't checked.
Also, if visitors comment to your site and see that you have been replying to comments then it will make them trust you a bit more and they might then leave you a comment.
People never like to be the first to do something so if they see that others have commented and you have responded then they might ask you a question about the product you are promoting or the article that you wrote which could possibly lead into a sale.
