Local SEO Best Practices

While directory submissions and localized keywords are crucial to local businesses, there are some practices you’d need to dive in. For instance, every business needs to get its unique name, address, and business phone number (NAP) listed for direct contact, and that’s even more crucial to local businesses.

Another thing to note is to ensure that the company’s name, address, and phone number (NAP) is the same (consistent) across sites and pages submitted to directories to prevent customers from getting confused.

Reviews are also insanely crucial to local SEO. Once your business has got listed in online directories such as Google My Business (GMB) and Yelp!, clients can start posting reviews about your business.

In as much as positive reviews can help your website rank higher in search results, ensure to request reviews from your existing clients which will help grow your business. Not that this will help boost your organic rankings alone, but it will also help clients get a strong feel for your company and its customer service before they’d have to consider working with your brand.

While you solicit reviews from clients, you’d need to do it judiciously; otherwise, you can get penalized by Google. However, there’s nothing wrong with asking existing clients to leave reviews.
