Your Audience's Role in Keyword Research
After you've decided what you want to offer, you can now think about your audience. What does your offering have to do with real people's needs and goals?
SEO is about helping users find the information they need. It is important to understand your audience in order to create great content that is user-friendly.
The first step is to determine the words that your audience uses to search for the information they need.
Each company has its own vocabulary. This vocabulary often doesn't correspond to that of its customers. You should consider the perspective of your audience when selecting keywords.
With just a few clicks, you can search for keyword data and suggest keywords using the Yoast SEO plugin's integrated SEMrush feature. For more ideas, you can also use the Yoast Search tool.
Or go to your Jaaxy and type in a question into your search, see what keywords are highlighted in black. Check out the alternative questions asked in the right-hand bar, put them in the Jaaxy question bar until you find a fit with your brand and products.
Open an incognito page on your computer, type in Google.com, next type in a question or title, and put it in quotation marks (") as you don't want it to be saved by Google as a record of your activity. This will skew your results.
(e.g. "How to make money at home" next look at the Google drop-down suggestions and note the keywords in black, go through the alphabet to see what other keywords come up, Choose a title and type this question into Jaaxy.)
How About Your Competitors?
You can't create a keyword research strategy that is effective without taking into account your competitors. Websites often optimize for keywords that have no chance of ranking. Keywords with high search volumes can help websites connect with larger audiences.
However, you will only see positive results if your website ranks well. You need to do your research on the competition and evaluate the situation.
Analyze your top competition in your industry by noting which websites appear on Google page one under the keyword titles that you would write about. Who are these companies, how big, how many people do they employ, etc? Can you compete? Not at the beginning.
So you need to write about topics and find keyword titles that don’t have many of your largest competitors, even better if it is Quora, Reddit, or a forum, you could rank quickly for your article against these.
This can be very worthwhile
You can simply Google the search terms that you want to rank for, and then compare those results with your website's ranking. What is the size of the companies competing for these top three rankings?
Be aware! Google will tailor search results to your search history. This means that your site will appear higher than other users searching the same keywords. You can avoid this by searching in private or incognito mode.
