2. Ads and pop-ups
To make money from your website you will need to place affiliate links, advertising and have a pop-up for subscribers. This is a given! But how and where you place those ads on your website needs some hard thinking.
Exercise: Right this minute Google SEO tools, click on the first article in the list that comes up, and really look at the home page.
- How is it presented?
- How easy is it to read?
- Do you want to scroll down and look at more of this website?
- Where have they placed their ads?
- Do their social media icons get in the way of reading their article?
Can you use some of these techniques to improve your website?
This exercise is worth repeating in your chosen niche to see what the competition websites look like for you. How do you stack up?

3.Poorly written and crafted text
We all start out as newbies and it is easy to say, “it doesn’t matter the quality of my content as long as I’m getting 3 new articles on my website a week.” Oh, tosh!! If you are not crafting your content to be of value and easy to read then you may as well pack it in now. You are wasting your time if you make it difficult for visitors to read your blog.
