Ways to Improve Your Link Text

In this section, we’ll see different ways you can improve your link text. Now, these methods are in line with Google’s best practices so you need not worry. Below are the ways in which you can improve your link text.

1. Avoid tricking your readers with click baits

Now, the major reason readers come to your site is to gain knowledge. The fact that visitors still frequently visit your site has to count for something. If anything, then it’s mostly because you give them value for their time.

Now, the moment you start tricking your readers with clickbait, you jeopardize not just your site’s ranking but its credibility.

Imagine a reader clicking on a link text, “free e-books” and then the link leading them to an irrelevant page! Now, that’d be awful and disappointing, isn’t it? Please desist from this practice.

2. Make the link text obvious to your readers

Encourage your readers to click on the link text. So, make the link text clickable by either using a distinct color for the link or underlining the link. You can do both as well.

3. Make sure the link text corresponds with the content you link it to

A great link text corresponds with the content of the page that it opens. This will help make the purpose of clicking the link clear to your readers by telling them what to expect. That way, you don’t leave your readers wondering what they’re about to open.

4. Adopt the Use of Logical Flow in Your Writing

Generally, writing ought to make a reader flow naturally and connect with your thoughts and ideas. Now, the same concept applies to link texts. So, when embedding links, ensure that they blend naturally with the surrounding texts.

Embedding a link in the wrong place in your content will derail your idea and your readers will not like it. This is because your content will become difficult to read.

5. Enclose your key phrase in quotes

For instance, you’re writing content whose topic contains this long-tail focus key phrase “learning how to drive”. Now, if your link text contains any of these words in your focus key phrase, then you have to change it.

This is because it will confuse search engines. So, what you need to do instead is to enclose every key phrase in quotes. That way the search engines can rank the entire key phrase.

6. Use relevant anchor words

Anchor words play a vital role in how you rank. This is because Google makes use of them to figure out what a webpage is about. Anchor words also help Google determine the relevance of web pages as well.

Therefore, it is of utmost importance to ensure that you don’t use random words that’ll make your link texts appear like clickbait.

Instead, you must endeavor to use anchor words that are relevant to the links thereby giving your readers a great experience.

Hey Fran, sorry about the confusion! An anchor text is a phrase made clickable for the audience and used to redirect visitors to a related post on your blog. This is helpful for building internal links and optimizing for organic search. Let me know if you understood the summary!

I understand...it's like the phrase in the story you highlight and then add a link. Is that correct?
