Direct Sales Funnel
A direct sales funnel can be used where you have an opt-in product and an affiliate product.
The emphasis is on making the sale, with the opt-in being the icing on the cake. The visitor is not forced to opt-in to see the sales page, but is encouraged to do so.
Landing Page Names
There are advantages to using standard page names throughout your website.
Not only does it make your pages easier to find and maintain when you’re looking at Pages in your WordPress menu but it allows you to insert the correct links in pages before you’ve created the page being linked to.
Here are the standard landing page names that I use:
[Opt-in Product] Capture
[Opt-in Product] Confirmation
[Opt-in Product] Download
If your template doesn’t automatically hide the page name, do so manually.
Note that these names will cause them to be displayed in their order of appearance to the visitor in your WordPress Pages list.
Create the Landing Pages
[Opt-in Product] Capture
Create the landing page [Opt-in Product] Capture to contain an enthusiastic write-up of the product you’re promoting, followed by the affiliate link. Make sure that the affiliate link opens in a new tab.
The lower part of the landing page contains an enthusiastic write-up of your opt-in product, including its image and an opt-in form requesting name and email address in order to get it, along with the call-to-action button.
Clicking the button triggers these actions:
- Adds the visitor to your mailing list with the tag [Product-Name]
- Sends the visitor an email (triggered by the tag) containing a link to the landing page [Opt-in Product] Download
- Opens the landing page [Opt-in Product] Confirmation
[Opt-in Product] Confirmation
The landing page [Opt-in Product] Confirmation contains instructions to the visitor to read their email, which contains the link to get their free opt-in product. It should also contain a “second-chance” link to the affiliate product.
Note: The email should have the same product image as the opt-in form and also include a second-chance link to the affiliate product.
The primary aim of the Direct Sales Funnel is to sell the affiliate product. Getting the buyer’s name and email address for future sales is a bonus.
To get the most out of your opt-in, the visitor should automatically go into an autoresponder email series after getting the confirmation email.
[Opt-in Product] Download
Create the landing page [Opt-in Product] Download to contain a reminder of what the visitor is getting and a link to the free opt-in product. You can use FileZilla to FTP upload the product to a folder on your website and link to it there.
