I am going to tell you a bit of a story. We all like stories right?

Early in WA training, you get asked to give feedback on someone else's website. This task was hard for me - I felt quite overwhelmed. What do I know? How will my thoughts help?

However, after getting into it and going on to other peoples - early and older - website creations, I noted a few things...

  • I started to see what I hated
  • Things that I liked
  • Glaring mistakes that I now knew not to do
  • Silly mistakes that could easily be overlooked
  • Page presentations that were all over the place
  • And well formatted content that I could find no flaw
  • Pictures of all sizes and in all positions
  • Pictures that were uniform and neat and on the right or centred
  • I got to see website theme styles
  • Website moods created by the author
  • Some spoke to me and others definitely didn't
  • Colour combinations and tones of colour
  • I saw how content got written - reviews, about pages, etc
  • I got a feel for where things should be on a page
  • There were many different menu ideas
  • Sidebar widgets that I loved and hated
  • Footers that rocked!
  • General Feedback was the easiest to give
  • Content Feedback the hardest
  • But by doing this I learned so much and this spilled over to my own website...

Great training Tracy, I have noticed that there are a few newbies that have not caught on to the value of site feedback. I hope they take your advice.

Hey Harvey,

So do I - the more that catch on to it and benefit from it - the better!

Thanks for commenting and hope all is going well your side.

Hi, Tracy!

I greatly appreciate your approach concerning feedback. I agree and will, in fact, bookmark this to use in further occasions. I benefited from your training because it’s brief and goes to the point.

I liked your story concerning the occasion when you received "Overall, I think your site has good content; however when I get on it and look at it, it just does not look all that exciting." That reminded me of a short comic, right here at WA, that you may enjoy reading :) I’ll follow you here at WA! Please continue to upload useful trainings as this one! Keep well! All the best! :)

PD: I really love the graphics you made for this training. Keep up the good work! :)
