5. Activate Your Website

The last thing to do is activate the site you made a while ago with Site Rubix. In order to do this you will need some special software. If you go to the WA Hosting tab you will see some tutorials. Click on the one that has FTP as the category on the right side.

You will see a link to download a free program called Core FTP. Download this and get it ready to go. Once it is installed on your computer, open it and you will see a menu. Again, there is a TON of confusing looking stuff on here, but newbies like us don't need to use all the options right now.

There should be a box on the right that says HOST/ IP/ URL. Type in the domain name for your site in here. Next you will need to log in using the FTP information you set up earlier. I did tell you to remember it, right? Also, if you go to your WA hosting tab, there will be a box with this information in it for your sites if you forget.

Log in to Core FTP with your info and you are good to go. There is a lot of info here, but all you need to know for now is that your files are in the httpdocs folder. You can upload other files from your computer to your site if you need to later on, but we'll just stick to the basics for now. Inside Core FTP (after you log in) you will see a new menu. On the bottom of the screen there will be a box on the left and right side of the screen with a display of folders (the right side should be blank). Use the left box and search for the folder called "httpdocs" and click on it. A small blue arrow should show up now, so click on it and it should transfer that file information to the right box.

For now, head back to WA and bring up Site Rubix again. On the left, there should be an option that says "Sites". Click on it and you will see the different sites you've made on SR, along with some icons beside them. Click on the icon that says "FTP Upload This Site." You will need to log in with the FTP info again. You should now see two columns with a big arrow box between them. Click on this box and it should upload everything from your folder (core ftp) to your website. It should send the folder, a css file, images, etc to Site Rubix and then to your domain name. I'm not a technical person and don't understand how this all works....but it does, lol.

Congratulations! You now have a working website! It may take a little time (a day or two) for the updates to occur, but everything has worked. I know this is a basic guide and is not the greatest. Use it in conjuction with the official WA tutorials and it should make more sense though. I will try to keep updating this and make it even better. If you have found this helpful, then please feel free to share some of the WA Gold you've been stocking up on. Also, if you need personal help with any questions regarding WA hosting, feel free to send me a PM anytime and I will do my best to help you.

Thanks for reading this. Good luck!

Hi Whistler,

For someone who is new to the internet marketing industry you seem to be quickly adapting to using the tools of the trade. You did a good job of explaining to a newbie how to get started making a website and getting it up and running. Keep up the good work.
