Rules to Remember

Rule 1
The first thing you should note is that our keyword lists were NOT created for your specific website. The keywords in the list pertain to a particular industry, and can be applied to many different types of websites. A large number of the keywords may not be relevant to your landing pages or your direct linking campaigns.

So rule of thumb:Do not copy and paste 2000 keywords into a campaign and think that they are going to make you a load of money! The reason for this is that your ads will not be relevant to any one of the keywords and there is no way that your landing page will be relevant to all of the keywords either! Your Quality Score will also be low due to poorly constructed ad groups.

Rule 2
The keyword lists can have many different uses. They can be applied to PPC, SEO, and Email Marketing or Article Marketing campaigns. In addition, they can be used to give you ideas to do your own keyword research. Do not feel like these are the only keywords within a particular industry. Do your own research and "dig" a little deeper into keywords that are relevant to your site and the products you are promoting. Quite often you will find little niches by taking the keywords from our list and expanding upon them using your own keyword research.

Many of the keywords within the lists are based on keywords that we have made sales with, or use in our campaigns to make sales. Many companies do not offer conversion tracking to their affiliates, so in many cases there is no way for us to know exactly which keywords sell. We do however base some of our keyword research on keywords that we have running in successful campaigns, or keywords that have made us sales in the past.

Rule 3

The first mistake that new marketers can make is trying to get a ton of traffic to their sites. Traffic is no good if it is not targeted. And again, TRAFFIC IS NO GOOD IF IT IS NOT TARGETED! Sure you can get hundreds of clicks every day by advertising under a search term like "dog", but it is very difficult to make this term relevant to any one ad or landing page. People searching the term dog could be looking for dog pictures, dog food, dog information, dog daycare, dog pound, dog the bounty hunter, dog training...I think you get the point. Unless you can provide the visitor a channel for each of these topics, chances are you will be wasting money on traffic that will not yield good results.

Say you have a "dog training" product that you are trying to promote. Would someone type in "dog" into Google if they were looking for dog training? Probably not. Something more relevant would be "dog training guide", "how to train my dog to sit ", or "train my German Shepherd". Now these are targeted keywords. If someone searches for any of these, they are looking for something specific that will help them out. If you can deliver a product that is relevant to their search, along with supporting information, the keyword will trigger a SALE! This is called Internet marketing!

Now that we have covered the basics, lets get into some techniques that you can apply to the keyword lists. These are just suggestions, and you may very well come up with your own techniques.
